We were starting to leave towards the door when a car pulled up in front of the bar,

"Down." Rick hissed at us. We all sunk below the windows. It was almost dark out so it was hard to see. Rick and I were next to each other, I could feel his warmth radiating over to me, he was looking in the window to see whoever pulled up.

"Stay quiet." Rick said. I looked at him, he glanced at me, he gulped and looked away

"Hello? Is anyone there?" A man called out from outside. I tried to keep my breathing to a low, just then they started to open the door but Glenn sat in front of it, closing it. It startled one of the guys.

"Hey, we just heard gunshots and we just wanna know if our friends are okay. Tony, Dave?" He called out. Moments of silence passed, the man started to talk with another guy, it sounded like they were going to pack up when Rick yelled,

"Your friends- they're dead. They drew on us, it wasn't our fault. You know- it just isn't like it was... We all do things we wish couldn't but- that's just how things are now-"

Bullets flew through the glass windows. Rick scooped me in his arms and held me down to the ground, making sure I was out of the bullets aim. He then was on top of me when they stopped shooting. He looked down at me,

"I want you to go behind the bar- wait until I come up with a plan-"

Hershel then started shooting back at them. Glenn was still sitting at the door, terrified.

"I'm not leaving you-"

"Get behind the bar and cover me." Rick growled, he was still on top of me, I almost moaned when I saw how he was looking at me and his body pressed against mine. I then pulled myself together and crawled over to the bar. I rose to where I could see Rick, Glenn and Hershel. I aimed at one of the guys who was by the car, he fell. There was some shouting from outside. I then told the guys to go into the other room to the right. I followed them.

"We have to sneak behind the building- our car is on the side." Rick said to all of us. Hershel and Glenn started to go out when Rick held my face, looking into my eyes

"You won't get hurt if you listen to me." He said, it wasn't a threat- he actually looked terrified that we were going into war zone in a few moments. He meant that if I followed him..-

"I will protect you." He finished my thought. I nodded, I wanted to hold his hand but I wanted to listen to him this time. He checked outside and said it was clear, he let me go first while he covered us.

"Down!" He yelled, just then there were bullets hitting the wall next to me, he dove onto me, his body weight on top of mine when I hit the ground made me choke for air. He kept on top of me, looking to see where the person was. He then started shooting, then there was a yelp meaning he shot the person. He looked down at me

"This is the second time you ended up on top of me within 10 minutes." I say. My pent up anger against him was long gone, I was smiling now. He even cracked a smile but it faded once we heard Glenn from behind us

"Are you guys done?! We have to go!" He hissed. Rick got up and pulled me up with him, he led us, Glenn and I were running next to each other.

"He's married." He said. I looked at him, not believing he said that

"I know." I say

He looked a little annoyed by my oblivious act,

"You know what I mean- you guys have been on top of each other the whole time-"

"We're just friends, Glenn-"

"Maggie and I don't even have that much PDA-" we were pressed against a wall, trying to stay under the radar from the other guys. We were less than a few yards from the car,

"Shut up!" Rick hissed at us, I don't know if he heard our conversation but it was a good cover up since we were trying to stay clear and quiet in that moment.

I then almost gasped when I heard people on the roof, they could drop right where we were. I looked at Rick with fear filled eyes, he looked back, his eyes looked down at my lips then back into my eyes. I wanted to be closer to him in that moment, he always made me feel safer, but I couldn't. We then hear the people jump onto what sounded like a dumpster on the other side of the building. I felt relieved, knowing they were leaving. I started to move a little but then there was a thump and a scream. I froze

"Is that a walker?" Glenn asked, Hershel confirmed his question once he started to shoot at a few walkers coming towards us.

"That's why they're leaving." Glenn said now looking at where the guys were, there was more than twenty walkers coming towards the building

"They must've heard the gun shots- we have to go." I say, the screaming was still going on

"We gotta see who is screaming." Hershel said while shooting. He then ran out of bullets, he looked at us

"Come on." He said. We all went to where the screams came from. There was a guy with a sharp fence post impaling his shin. Rick started to shoot the walkers now

"Can you do anything, max?" He asked. I looked at him,

"He was just shooting at us- why should we help him?-"

"Please- please don't leave me like this. I'm just 20- I- I didn't shoot- I swear-"

"And he's a liar." I say, disapprovingly.

"He's just a boy, we have to help him." Hershel said, inspecting his leg. He then looked at me,

"What would you do if this was one of your patients? You had an oath- to serve everyone." He said

"That was before- and I wasn't even a surgeon before-" I started to panic, seeing the walkers never ending.

"Help him!" Rick yelled. I rolled my eyes and went to the guy's leg, the fence made a clear cut into the leg.

"We could save his leg- I think... I need time to do that though." I say.

"We don't have any time! We have to go- now!" Glenn panicked

"You can do this, I know you can." Hershel said. I looked up at him, he was giving me a supportive look. I looked back at the leg.

"We either leave him or leave in a few seconds- I'm running out of bullets." Rick hollered from behind. I then stopped hearing him shoot, I looked back and saw him pull the trigger, nothing came out. He was out, he looked back at me

"Don't- don't leave me." The guy begged. I then took my jacket off and ripped the sleeve off, I shoved it in his mouth and then pulled his leg from the fence post- he cried and screamed in pain, his scream was muffled by my coat. Rick helped me run him to the truck, we all piled in.
