Fish Out of Sea

I opened my mouth, then closed it again. Open, close, open, close. A fish dragged out of the sea. A fish that just wanted to go back home.

I stood there, in front of him. My mouth opening then closing, but no words came out. He stood as though in a trance, trying to figure me out. Trying to think if I was worth it. My lungs throbbed hard behind my fragile ribs and I could feel them crack from the force.

I opened my mouth once again, but I still wasn't sure.

"I Love-"

The way he looked at her passing by cut me short. And I read his mind the moment he looked back at me.

My lungs exploded and would never heal again. Like a fish out of sea.
