The Funny Thing

You laughed at them
You laughed at how the things they were doing were pointless
You laughed at how ridiculous you were for ever thinking they were worth something

You were friends
But then you fell out
You were too good for them

They had each other
You had no one
No one but me

"They've changed so much"
You said
"You're the best for being here"

They were fine for each other
But I was never fine enough for you
Never good enough

Yet now the funny thing
Is that you look at them
And crave the friendship they have

Was I never enough for you?
You promised me I was
Yet here we are; you never being around

What are promises if not to be kept?
To be broken of course
How ridiculous to keep them

So the funny thing is
You've become the exact person
You promised you wouldn't be
