So you're on Wattpad, you love reading with a passion, and you think it's about time to start writing a book. Maybe get a few followers along he way and stuff, but wait! How do I even write a book? How do I get a lot of views, votes, and followers? Well you're in luck! You just found the perfect guide in how to start your novel!

Patience!

First off, be patient. Sure, you start your story, have a few chapters out but no one is reading it! In order to get a lot of views, you need to become a bit famous. Translation: become a regular.

Have free time?

Go on Wattpad.

Want to watch TV?

Go on Wattpad instead.

You don't feel like going on Wattad?

Go on Wattpad anyway.

Now I'm not saying to be glued to your computer screen 24/7. I'm just trying to say to check in a lot and throw yourself out there. Explore the site until you see a story. Read, vote, and comment. Repeat until you have a good sized library. Get some followers and maybe write a short story or something.

How Do I Write A Novel?

Writing a book isn't going to be easy. When you first get an account, start your book. Before you even type the first word on your story, plan out everything. Get your plot straight, make character profiles (Full Name, age, likes, dislikes, favorites, etc...) and set a good time period between the release of each chapter.

On the other hand, there is an invisible danger that will destroy you: Starting too many things at once.

Yep, You heard me. When I first started writing, I was awesome. Perfect. Amazing. My story was going on 60 pages! Then I wanted to make another story. After finishing the first chapter, I wanted to start another story. I repeated this until recently.

Realizing what mess I was getting myself into, I deleted most of my stories. I decided to stick with writing one story, and nothing else.

Put everything you got into that one story, even when you get bored with it.

Spelling Errors?

I'm begging you, PLEASE check spelling and grammar errors! Sure, I don't mind little errors like a misuse of "who" and "whom", or maybe "your" and "you're". But PLEASE spare me from the text talk! No ur, 4, 2, omg, txt, wut, or any other text words!

If you want to check spelling and grammar errors, I recommend you copy and paste your story on Microsoft Word. They will highlight spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes, and any other error you typed in. (Wattpad only checks for spelling errors, not grammar and other things.) If you right click the highlighted, it will also give you reccomendations.

(Example: "Your awesome!" Right click on 'your' and 'You're' will pop up.)

When Should I Publish The First Chapter?

What's a Good Time Period Between Chapters?

When you're either done or almost done with your story, publish the first chapter.

You can choose whenever you post the next chapter. You can post every week, choose two dates in the week, but please keep a schedule. No one wants chapter two weeks later, then chapter three published a few days later.

Personally, I would post every week.

Covers?

You need a cover. Period. You need to look professional, yet catchy. I usually design my own covers by going on this website called "ipiccy.com." Though I do hear about some people on here who create covers for you. I think you just tell them a description and they make your cover. I have no recommendations here, sorry.

What About Facebook and Other Things?

If you have a Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, or any other type of website, you should share your story. Facebook is my main website, so I just scrolled at the bottom and click the dandy little "like" button. Not even a second later, two people already liked my story! So share, tweet, like, or do anything else to tell your friends about your novel. Chances are, they'll get involved with your book too!
