Savior Prologue

I kneeled in front of the king of Sagurn people, dipping my head down in respect. I tried to suppress a smile, but I couldn’t help it. No commoner, especially a Casen, has ever been this close to him-a wise, well-respected man. My back straightened in pride and a slight smile touched my lips, but he couldn’t see it since I had my head down.

“Rise,” He commanded in a firm but gentle, benevolent voice.

I slowly stood up holding myself in a respectful, polite posture. He faintly nodded his head in acknowledgement. Keeping my dignity, I nodded back. When I stood, I was about the same height as him. We were eye to eye. His icy blue eyes were powerful and sharp yet there was a glint of compassion. The man’s wispy, white hair showed his age. He was dressed in a simple, white robe over a loose shirt and trousers.

“Salutations, Mrs. Ellwood.” He said.

“Greetings, King Sayce.” I replied monotonously.

“Why don’t you have a seat?” He asked gesturing to a pair of chairs behind him.

Trying to make my steps graceful, I sauntered to the chair on the right. I sat upright-not slouching at all-and carefully folded my hands in my lap. King Sayce sat with a regal posture, carelessly letting his arms dangle to his side, yet he made it look formal.

“Auriella, may I call you that?” He began.

“Of course, Your Majesty.” I politely answered.

“Auriella, you are probably wondering why I have summoned you to the palace.” King Sayce stated.

He paused for a second anticipating my response. I nodded and he continued to explain. His eyes wandered past me to the wall behind. My body ached with curiosity. What was he looking at? Surely, a king would give their guests respect. What was so important that it made King Sayce, of all kings, absentminded and disrespectful? King Sayce is the ruler of the Sagurns-the most wise and respected species of Caelum. He is the most shrewd and respected man in the entire world.

“Recently,” He took a deep breath, “We, the Sagurn people, have discovered a prophesy.”

“From Navon?” I gasped, interrupting his explanation. He is the prophet of Caelum that had died many years ago. Almost a century ago.

“I am sorry.” I apologized, lowering my head in shame.

“It’s fine. I gasped as well when I first heard of this is shocking news. We have found it carved into a wall. That wall to be exact.” He said pointing to the wall that he was gazing at before.

King Sayce led me to the wall and slowly pulled back the heavy, mauve drapery covering the entire span of the wall. It uncovered a little crevasse that was only about a centimeter deep. Carved into the crème marble of the crevasse was writing in the format of a prophesy. I gasped covering my mouth with my hand. It read:

When Caelum loses all its hope, a Casian girl will rise. Her heart and courage as strong as stone, she will lead Caelum to victory and glory. She is our savior however she will not succeed alone. The girl will be accompanied by a Salenxian boy and a Sagurn girl born on the exact same date and time as her, on a mission to find the weapon in which will give Caelum the advantage over the Scythes.

                Navon

“And how does this have to do with me?” I asked. I immediately shut my mouth. Commoners were not allowed to speak to royalty without being spoken to first. Again, I held my head low in shame.

“Look at the way he signed it. The ‘a’ and the ‘n’ are slightly bigger than the other lowercase letters and the ‘N’ is slightly slanted. The bigger ‘a’ means it is in the fall and the bigger ‘n’ with the bigger ‘a’ and the slanted ‘N’ means that it is this year-134. Auriella, that means that the three children are born in the fall of this year!” He exclaimed. His voice sounded young, and for a second, I forgot that he was very old.

“Well, that narrows it down to like a hundred children. You do notice that many babies were born in the fall of this year, right?” I pointed out. I mentally scolded myself for my rude comment. Why am I so disrespectful today? Of all days!

King Sayce didn’t notice or at least he just ignored my rude tone. “In the prophesy, Navon stated that the three children were born on the same day, at the same time. We have looked through the dates and times of the births in the fall of this year, and it just so happens that there were 3 children, a Sagurn, a Salenxian, and a Casian who were born on the same date, at the same exact time. Auriella, we have found our saviors!”

“I’d hate to point it out again, but how does this relate to me?” I tried to keep my tone respectful.

“Your daughter, Adele, is our savior.” He said in an even tone, speaking a bit slow.

“Adele?!?!” I exclaimed, “But she is just a Casian farmer’s daughter!”

“Perhaps, but commoners can be heroes as well. Not just royalty.” He said.

It took some time to soak in. There was no denying that he was right. King Sayce is always right, but it was still unbelievable nonetheless. Adele, my sweet little Adele, just a couple months old, is going to be Caelum’s savior.

“What am I to do?” I finally asked after a long pause.

“You are to train her. In the art of sword fighting, archery, martial arts, anything that you think will be necessary.” He replied.

I took a deep breath, “Of course, Your Majesty.”
