Ankou [pronounced ‘AHN-koo’] – the King of the Dead.
Daoine Maite [pronounced ‘deena my-teh’] – the Shining Ones, or sídhe. Ordinary Irish folk would always refer respectfully to the sídhe in this way.
Fragarach [pronounced ‘FRAG-ah-roch’] – the ‘retaliator’ or ‘answerer’. Magic sword owned by the sea god, Manannán.
Manannán [pronounced ‘Man-ah-NAN’] – Irish god of the sea. Known for his connection with the Underworld, and knowledge of supernatural mists between that separate worlds.
marbh bheo [pronounced ‘merv-ee-oh’] – the nightwalking dead; the undead.
sídhe [pronounced ‘shee’] – Supernatural beings who live in Ireland, and who can only be seen by a special few. Also known as the Shining Ones.
Tír an Dearmad [pronounced ‘Teer ahn DEER-mahd’] - The Country of the Forgotten.
Tír na nÓg [pronounced ‘Teer na NO-gh] – The mythical Land of Youth in Irish mythology.
Trireme [pronounced ‘TRY-reem’] – An ancient type of war ship propelled by about two hundred oarsman arranged in three banks of oars, one above the other.
