*Bang*

Sammy shook me.

"Dada, we're here!" he announced.

I rubbed my eyes and smiled.

"Thanks, little man!"

I picked him up as we left the plane.

"You slept well!" Kate chuckled as she linked arms with me,

I raised my eyebrows and grabbed our bags.

"Come on. Is the rental car here?" Kate peered at all the traffic.

I pointed at a peeling green truck.

"Thats our ride!" Kate, Jim and I climbed in the front, May, Sammy, Fred in the middle seats and Lucy, Rachel and Sammy in the back.

"It won't be very long, my munchkins!" Kate smiled and handed some Mentoes around to everyone.

We drew up at a small Tudor house.

"This is it guys!" I stepped out of the car, beads of sweat rolling down my face.

Everyone picked up their bags and dragged them inside. May plopped down on the sofa and flicked open her magazine.

"Gaaad. It's hot in here!" she waved herself.

Lucy sat on the floor and opened her book while Rachel stared into the mirror. I turned to the boys.

"What do you guys want to do?"

Sammy ran off with his teddy, Jim charged after him and Fred went to unpack his bag.

"Well it's just you and me then." I turned to Kate.

She leaned against the surface and held her head.

"I don't feel well." she sipped her water.

I hugged her close and showed her to bed.

"Don't worry hun. It must of just been the travelling."

She nodded weakly and braved a smile.

"Everything will be fine in the morning. I'm tired." she gripped my hand.

I went back to the kitchen and stared at the kids.

"What do you guys want for tea?"

"PIZZA!"

"PASTA!"

"FISH AND CHIPS!"

"SAUSAGE AND CHIPS!"

"EGG AND CHIPS!"

"JELLY BEANS!" Sammy giggled.

I raised my eyes and started to make noddles and chips.

"Can I help?" Rachel slid next to me.

I shook my head.

"Sorry, babe. There is no room. If you could go look for plates then that would great though."

She moaned but skipped off.

"FOUNNNNDDD THEEEMMMMMMM!" she screamed.

"Them bring them out here!" I shouted back.

She hurried in with seven china dishes.

"No, only six plates. Mum has gone to bed."

Rachel placed the dishes down.

"What? Is she alright?"

I nodded.

"Go see her. She would love to have someone to talk to!"

Rachel ran to the bedroom and slammed the door behind her. As we didn't have a table, the kids crowded on the floor.

"Here you are!" I handed round a dish of noddles and chips round.

"KETCHUP!" cried Sammy as he ran to the fridge.

I picked him up and put him back on the floor.

"I will get it, little man."

I squirted it on his plate, to the left like always and placed it back it in the fridge.

"I'm gonna check on mum and Rach guys!"

I opened the door to find them deep in conversation.

"So anyway, Harry is soooo cute!" moaned Rachel.

Kate patted her hand and turned to me.

"Here come the dad in shining tinfoil." she moaned.

Rachel walked out slowly, winking at me as she went.

"Go." I pointed towards the door "Your dinner will get cold."

I looked down at my pale wife.

"You don't look good honey. I'm gonna phone our doctor and see what he thinks."

She sipped her water slowly before staring deep into my eyes.

"Don't worry honey. I'm fine."

As I walked away, I wondered to myself. Could lying about your health make you worse?
