When I Saw You I Fell in Love, and You Smiled Because You Knew

Chapter One

10 minutes earlier...

'Hey Matt?' Lily asks as they slide into bed for the night after a long day in Australia. 

'Hm?' Matt asks. 

 'You're still in love with her, aren't you?' She asks him quietly. 

 She was talking about Karen of course. They'd just seen her in passing and Karen had seemed... Distracted. Maybe Matt had looked at Kaz too much and Lily had noticed. 

 'What?' He says, rolling towards her. 'Of course not.' He leans in to kiss her but she pulls away. 

 'No really. I know you two never dated but I can tell that there is or was something between the two of you.' 

 'It's nothing. You don't want to know.' He leans toward her again and she accepts his kiss without another word. 

 'Please tell me. I'm your girlfriend. I'd like to know if I've got some competition.' 

 Matt sighs, rolling over on his back, his hands clasped on his chest. He turns his head to her and is surprised see her still looking at him. 

 'You really want to know?' He says and she nods. Matt stares at the ceiling and begins a tale that he has never told anyone before.
