𝐴 𝑇𝐼𝑁𝐺𝐿𝐼𝑁𝐺 𝑆𝐸𝑁𝑆𝐴𝑇𝐼𝑂𝑁 𝑈𝑃 her arms, each muscle tense to the point of exhaustion. Her vision was blurred and all sounds were muffled as if she were floating numbly underwater. She tried to examine the room around her, but even once her vision cleared up, the situation was far too confusing.

All around her were, who she assumed, were doctors in white lab coats, some in smocked, wandering the metal room. She was tied down to a cold metal table, but she could hardly tell since her senses were almost completely gone. Vorona had no comprehension of the world around her, especially the conversations, even if she did speak Russian.

No matter her effort, Vorona couldn't piece together what these scientists or doctors had done to her. None of the medical supplies around her were answering her quizzical question.

HYDRA had put her into a medically induced coma for two weeks so that they could run tests. They had succeeded with the Winter Soldier Program and were now trying to create another weapon, but worthy of much more power.

The Super Soldier Serum was injected into an American World War Two soldier they had found at the bottom of a cliff, his arm missing. They tried to take the same route with the Crow Program, but picked someone very specific. They chose Vorona Bardot for a reason. When they found her dying by gunshot wound on that train, HYDRA made sure she lived to see a sunrise, but she would never remember the prior.

"Tot Vorona. Kak ty sebya chuvstvuyesh?" [RUSSIAN-- The Crow. How do you feel?]

Vorona, whose name means crow in Russian, specifically picked by her father, had the straps around her legs and arms unlatched. With the small amount of strength she had left, she was able to sit up. Vorona was stuck in some numb trace where the only sensation she felt was a cold metal on the bottom of her face. Vorona lifted her hand to investigate only to find a metal mask blocking her hand from touching skin.

Panic filled Vorona's heart. She attempted to rip off the mask, even if it meant scarring her. She had no clues as to how, but, that mask was attached to her face. The head scientist in the room laughed at her struggle, but did grab her wrist, pulling them away from her face with force. He grasped her wrist so tightly that red marks began to appear.

"Glupaya devchonka. Vy ne bedete govorit', vy ne bedete vozrazhat. Yavor, soberi svoikh lyudey i privedi yeye v yeye apartamenty. Yey nuzhen otdykh, no ona ne budet spat." [RUSSIAN-- Silly girl. You will not speak, you will not talk back. Javor, get your men and bring her to her quarters. She needs rest, but she won't be sleeping.]

The Crow Program is a project that would do wonders for HYDRA, help revolutionise their assassination work. However, for the test subject, it would only bring years years of torture. With the ability to become interconnected with the darkness and the crows brought forth a curse. The night would always taunt her, always talk to her. The power to manipulate what is now her new home, the darkness, Vorona would never witness sleep again. For the next seventy years to come, sleep would completely elude her.
