Airi opened her eyes weakly. All she could feel was a sharp pain aching on the top of her head along with her wounded shoulder and the taste of blood from her injured lips. Her every muscle, every bone was hurting and her body felt so heavy she could barely move. She waited until her vision got clearer to take a look around at wherever she currently was. She was laying on a cold ground in a dark closed place that looked like a prison cell. And the more she looked at the place, the more she realized that it was indeed a prison cell. The pain she was in made it hard to even think, but she tried hard to recall her last memories to figure out how she ended up here. As her memory began to slowly reach her mind, she suddenly heard a groan coming from behind her. Airi's heart began racing as she could now feel a presence with her. No matter who was there, she wouldn't be in shape for a fight. She heard another groan which sent a shiver down her spine. She wouldn't survive more injuries. She had just recovered from getting stabbed in the stomach, her shoulder had a deep and bleeding freshly opened wound and her head was pounding painfully. No matter what would happen, she wouldn't make it past another fight.

"Ai-" she heard. Her heart skipped a beat. "Airi?"

As soon as her name left their mouth, Airi immediately recognized whose voice it was. She tried to ignore the pain and shifted to her side, trying to get a look at the person behind her. She winced in pain at the sudden movement but her lips then curled into a smile as soon as she got a glimpse at her beloved captain, "Luffy." she breathed out.

The boy didn't waste another second, he ran to her side, his eyes checking her up and down with concern written all over his face, "Are you okay?" he asked, trying to catch his breath.

Airi wasn't feeling like lying and since the wince covering the expression on her face was already saying it all, she felt like she didn't need to reply, "Have we been captured?" the girl questioned looking around the prison cell with eyes full of concerns.

"Looks like it." the boy replied, ruffling a hand through his wet messy dark hair.

Airi sighted as she put her hand on her forehead, a defeated look covering her face, "I let my guards down, I messed up."

Luffy immediately looked up at her with wide eyes, "Don't blame yourself, Airi. It's not your fault. And we'll get out of here, don't worry."

The girl silently pushed a strand of her wet blonde hair behind her ear, sending a sadden smile over at her captain. Luffy quietly shifted closer to Airi, his gaze traveling over her, "You're injured again." he whispered.

"That's nothing Chopper can't fix." Airi smiled softly.

"I failed to protect you, again."

Airi's smile faded as she looked back into Luffy's rounded eyes, "Luffy... You're the one blaming yourself now?" she teased him.

But the boy had a very stern look over his face, "I'm serious. How many times will it take... I promised you I'd never let anything happen to you again. And... And now you're..."

Airi threw herself onto the boy's chest, wrapping her arms tightly around him, "Respectfully, shut up, captain." she said against his chest.

Luffy's eyes widened a little as he suddenly felt the girl's arm wrapping around him, but he immediately relaxed, melting into the embrace. His arms found their way around the blonde's waist as he held her close, "I really wanted to protect you, Airi." he whispered over her shoulder.

"I know, it's okay." she reassured him, rubbing the boy's back gently.

Luffy slightly pulled away to watch her for a moment. Both of them could feel their heart racing as they were just looking into each other's eyes quietly. Airi smiled at him before cupping both of cheeks with her hands, rubbing the boy's skin softly with her thumbs. She didn't even realize what she was doing, it felt like a pure wave of instinct controlling her every move. The girl's eyes travelled from Luffy's dark eyes, to his messy hair, to the scar under his eye, to his lips... and stopped there for a moment. Luffy noticed and slightly frowned as he simply watched the girl's gaze trailing over his face, enjoying her touch although he could feel his cheeks burning against her hands.

Airi felt her heartbeat's race increasing as her face leaned slightly closer to her captain's, as if her heart was now guiding her entire body. She looked back down at boy's chapped lips, a strange craving feeling growing inside her. She could hear, and feel from the closeness, Luffy breathing faster, and as she looked up back at his eyes, she noticed how intensely he was now staring at her own lips. Airi saw his head getting dangerously closer to hers, and it only caused her heart to beat even faster and louder than it already was.

The girl's hand were still cupping his cheeks softly and Luffy couldn't help but let his eyes trailing down to the girl's lips. This feeling he had felt before, this kind of craving to get closer to Airi, this kind of craving to put his lips on hers, he was now feeling it again. The closeness between the pair of them was making his heart pound loudly against his ribcage, but it didn't feel enough, he only wish he could get even closer to her. He had no idea what this feeling was, but he loved every ounce of it. Luffy couldn't help but think of how beautiful the girl looked, even with the little bleeding scars she had on her face. He thought of how she was most definitely the prettiest person he had ever laid his eyes on. There's nothing he wanted more in this moment than to tell her that, but something in his throat was keeping him from doing so. Just thinking about telling her was causing a painful knot in his stomach, he couldn't put a finger on why, though.

As Airi was looking dreamingly at him, she couldn't help but feel like Luffy was the most precious person she had ever met. Not a single human in this world could matter more than he did to her. No one could ever compare to his smile, his silliness, the sound of his laugh, his kindness and so much more. She could feel such an overwhelming amount of love taking over her, it was so strong. So she closed her eyes and decided to let this feeling guide her.

Airi leaned in and the next thing she knew, she could feel Luffy's lips pressed against hers.

Luffy's eyes widened at the sudden movement, his heart bouncing like crazy in his chest. He took a few moment to try to understand whatever was happening, but he decided to relax and let it happen. As soon as he did, Airi quickly pulled away, her cheeks turning a bright shade of red under her freckles, "S-sorry." she hastened to say, taking her hands off his cheeks.

Luffy slightly frowned before cupping her cheeks in turn to pull her closer. This time, he was the one letting his feelings guide him. He leaned him, closing his eyes, as to mimic what Airi had just done.

Luffy captured Airi's lips with his owns. Airi immediately kissed him back, wrapping her hands around the boy's neck as the both of them melted into the kiss.

Nothing had ever felt more right to them. Nothing had ever felt so heavenly before.

It felt just like something both of them had been waiting for forever. It felt like something that had always been meant to happen.

Their heart were beating in sync. Their lips were pressed against each others. The stars were aligned.
