chapter 4 The unexpected

My eyes opened  slowly to a bright blinding light, I blink several times  trying to adjust to the brightness,  I the ringing sound that i was hearing was disturbing  ,when my eyes adjusted to the brightness ,everywhere was white and blue, I could see a computer beside me, there was drip connected to my hand and I had a pipe on my face, the door opened,then a nurse in a blue outfit stepped in holding a tray, when she came closer her eyes widened in shock , she ran out of the ward, and I was sure I saw tears I her eyes .

I was already in a sitting position  when a man in a white coat opened the door to my ward , he  came in beaming with a smile on his face, he asked he some question but for some reasons I couldn't hear him , I looked at him again with a confused face , but he didn't get me and kept on talking , stop talking I cant hear you , i shouted , he looked at me again with shock  what surprise me most was that   I couldn't hear myself , the doctor understanding my situation wrote what he was saying down in a paper that he found .

the paper said"Hi I'm Dr,Andy and this might come as a shock for you but you were in a car accident , you have become partially deaf,  you have been in a coma for6 years, your parents  gave you up for adoption 3 years ago after they had another child, we will be giving you some hearing aids to make hearing a little easier for you , you will get discharged in one week  and start sign language classes and lips reading classes ," By the time i was done reading the paper tears streamed down my face , did they hate me that much to actually give me up for adoption , what of my old life what of Asher , I had many questions but I couldn't ask any because the pain I felt in my heart wouldn't let me I chocked on my tears , sniffing and inhaling for more breath . I couldn't help it , the doctor was kind enough to understand that I needed some time alone then signaled for everyone to leave.

I screamed my heart out into my pillow, I couldn't believe that they actually did that to me , I've literally missed 6 years of my life and yet no body from my family was even there to at least look at me,I asked myself why they hated me so much ,what did I ever do to deserve this , what did I ever do to them, was I that disgusting, I didn't ask to be given birth to why did my life have to be so cruel , where did I go wrong, those questions kept spinning  in my mind i was beginning  to feel dizzy and then i blacked out .

I opened my eyes to see a pair of blue eyes looking straight at me, e-e-escuse me i stammered, the guy didn't look away he just smiled OH YOUR AWAKE  i heard him say , men that was one heck of a courage that he had, Hi I'm Tony he said to me , right now i was as red as a tomato , i-i'm Lilly nice to meet you, i as literally stumbling on my words what was wrong with me, eventually he looked away, i noticed that he wasn't wearing a nurses outfit, so i summoned up the courage to ask him a question , u-u-uh h-h-h-h-ey , oh my gosh i didn't know why i was stammering like this , wait how did i hear him speak , i know the doctor wrote that i had hearing problems , then I  reached out my hands to my ears to feel some thing like an ear pod in my ear, Escuse me what is this in my ear i asked the guy named Tony without stammering, its your hearing aid he said , who are you , i asked , well i thought the doctors already told you that you have been adopted , WHAT?????? i shouted , easy girl  he said , well basically my uncle adopted you so we are not gonna be related , this news was too much for me i couldn't understand it at all , it was way too much to process , so i went into a coma from a panic attack or a car accident only to wake up six freaking years later to realize that my stupid parents had put me up for adoption and i was freaking deaf , and now I've been adopted by someone i haven't even met before , why did my life have to be in such a mess ,a single tear fell from my eyes , Tony noticed it and took a tissue from the table beside me , he sat down by my  beside me on the hospital bed  and wiped the tear , you don't have to worry about anything  I will take very good care of you , and i promise not to let any thing happen to you  , but Lilly I have to tell you something  that is very important , he started , well your file pretty much stated that you have been here since you were nine years old , so now you are fifteen and will have to start high school , you have missed a lot of things but i can help with that,and one more thing you have karate classes and Taekwondo lessons to attend, details would be given in full when you arrive at your new home,  but  you can handle it given your  previous records , oh and try not to cry in front of anyone again , don't give anyone a reason to step over you, hide your weakness and be strong and tough, and you are changing your last name, then he stopped talking, I was feeling woozy just processing all the information he gave me changing my last name, well that was not gonna happen , i was an independent girl and i didn't think that i would need to change the name i gave myself  , but we still have one  more problem , i heard him say, how did you get this two different color of eyes , well i was born like this , i replied  , i don't have a problem with it but my uncle does so i  say we get you some blue colored contact lenses and with that he stood up and before he left he said 'i look forward to having a fifteen years old with the mind of a nine years old  as my cousine' and then he left

my life was already turning into a nightmare overnight. and there is nothing that i can do about it. What a world i just sat there  on the bed thinking of all the things that would happen to me from then on wards.
