I have had my ups and downs with this series (I say 'series', technically it's duology). Some times I just didn't want to write this at all and was even thinking about unpublishing both fics, but decided against it.

NOTES & INSIGHT  . . . 

Marissa was originally supposed to have a love interest
in the very first idea, it was going to be Kaz, then I decided against it and was going to use Genya, but also decided against that and made her story platonic

Powers
So, for some reason, I wanted to go extra and make it so Marissa could turn shadows blue. No I do not know why, I just did. Obviously, that was changed.

Marissa & Aleksander: The Morozova Siblings
As we know, Marissa & Aleksander are siblings, but they have this weird dynamic. Sometimes they are close and other times they're not, and I really made it just based on how they're feeling in the moment. Aleksander always cared about his sister, but sometimes his pride got the best of him. And yes, I did somewhat make him a little out of character.

Marissa & Nikolai
The best platonic duo ever. I'd definitely say that Nikolai would flirt with her before being with Zoya, 100%, but more in a playful way. Like, he knew him and Marissa were purely best friends, he'd just do it to annoy her.

Marissa's Powers Pt. 2
So, as we know, Marissa doesn't just summon shadows, she can create them. I decided to do this because I felt like it would be an interesting way to incorporate the Fjerdan's idea of Grisha being 'Witches', where they think Grisha can simply create their element.

I want to say thank you to everyone who read The Survivor Series and are going to probably forget about this entire thing or re-read it.
