Y/N - Your Name
L/N - Last Name
S/N - Sister's Name

Tonight was your last family dinner before you head off to the military. You didn't sign-up for this. Your mother did. How could she? Sending you off when you didn't even have any experience? She truly was the worst. Your father didn't even do anything about it because he ALWAYS has to agree with her. The only sad thing about leaving is leaving your sister, S/N... She became deaf after a car accident when she was on her way to school with her father. You're the only one who learned sign language with her while your mother and father thought it would be a waste of time. They always called you to translate what she said and now since they were still lazy, S/N would have to write everything even though she was only 12...

"Y/N, are you ready to go?" Your mother asked, not even giving you time to answer. "Good, because I changed my mind about what time you're leaving."
She was about to say something else, but you quickly interrupted. "I get to stay longer?" You excitedly said, standing up from your seat.
Your mother looked at you as if you were crazy. "Heavens no. You're leaving tonight instead of tomorrow." She said, rolling her eyes at you.
Your eyes widened as you looked at your mom in shock. "What do you mean?!- I- Dad, you can't possibly be agreeing to this."

He avoided eye contact and continued to eat his food quietly as your mother shooed you away, gesturing for you to leave now. You didn't even get to finish eating dinner and she was already kicking you out. You stood up and left to go get your bags. You were tired of this. You were tired of her.

Right as you're about to leave, S/N came into the room, holding a plastic container filled with her homemade brownies in one hand and a notepad and pen in the other. She handed you the container and you happily took it, smiling gently to her. She smiled back.

'Are you really leaving?' She wrote on the notepad, her smile faded slightly. You nodded your head yes. 'Will you miss me?' She wrote on the next line, as she smiled weakly. 'Of course.' You signed to her before she dropped her notepad and pen and hugged you quickly. You hugged her back as you held back tears. You didn't want to leave her. Not ever. You could hear her softly crying in your arms so you gently patted her back for comfort, gently kissing her head.

After hugging her for about 15 minutes, you two head downstairs. You're in your uniform already and you have your backpack. "Did you already call someone to come pick me up now?" You asked your mother. "Yes, they should be here in about 20 minutes. Go stand outside and wait." She demanded as she put her dish in the sink. "S/N, now that your sister is leaving, you'll be in charge of doing the dishes, taking the recycle and trash out, a mowing the lawn. Now go do the dishes now!" You sister looked confused, not understanding a word your mother had said. You quickly realized and signed it to her. She nodded and went to do the dishes after hugging you once more.
