On Saturday, Nicholas went over to Hilda's house. As he walked, he bumped right into her! Nicholas landed on his back. Hilda's got down on her knees. Her breast pushed against Nicholas' chest. They felt warm and soft, and Nicholas could hear her heartbeat. Nicholas was starting to feel different.

Hilda: "Sorry about that, Nicholas. Are you okay?"

Nicholas: "Yeah, I'm fine. I was just coming over to your house. Can I come in?"

Hilda: "Sure. I don't mind a visitor. Come on in."

Nicholas walked into Hilda's house.

Hilda: "Hi, mum. I have a visitor."

Johanna: "Hello. I'm Johanna . Hilda's mother."

Nicholas: "Hello, ma'am. My name is Nicholas. I just came for a visit."

Johanna: "That's fine."

Hilda brought Nicholas up to her room.

Hilda: "This is my room."

Nicholas had a look around. He then saw a small white animal. It ran towards him.

Nicholas: "Huh?"

Hilda: "Easy, boy. This is Twig. He's my pet deerfox."

Nicholas: "I've heard of those, but I didn't think they were real."

Hilda: "Aww. I think he likes you."

Nicholas: "He must."

Hilda then noticed a bump in Nicholas' pocket.

Hilda: "What's that in your pocket?"

Nicholas: "Um..."

Hilda: "You can tell me."

Nicholas: "Alright."

Nicholas pulled out a wooden Thomas toy.

Nicholas: "I kept this from when I was little."

Hilda: "Really? I kept something like that too."

Hilda then showed Nicholas a wooden Edward. Nicholas then realized that they had something in common. They both had something they liked when they were little.

Hilda: "This was my favorite character when I was little."

Nicholas: "I didn't know you liked Thomas and Friends too."

Hilda: "I love it."

Nicholas: "We have something in common. So where did you grow up?"

Hilda: "I grew up in the wilderness, and then I moved to Trolberg. My mum lived there before she had me. I transferred to your school."

Nicholas: "I've been here all my life. What are your hobbies like?

Hilda: "I like drawing, I love nature, and playing board games. What about you?"

Nicholas: "I like building, writing stories, and... And..."

Nicholas then turned sad.

Hilda: "Is something wrong?"

Nicholas: "It's just that there's something you should know about me. I was born with autism. It can be hard for me to make a new friend sometimes. I feel like no one would like me if I'm like this. Sometimes I feel like no one cares about me."

Hilda: "That's not true, Nicholas. I care about you."

Nicholas: "Thank you, Hilda."

The two then hugged.
