The Change 17: The tatami room

What is a Tatami Room? (yung mga hindi nakakaalam paki basa nalang ito. malaking bahagi po kasi sa Japanese culture yung tatami room)

A tatami room is a fixture in washitsu, or traditional Japanese interior design. The tatami room, with its simple furnishings and open atmosphere, can bring the Far East into any Western home. 

A tatami room takes its name from the tatami mat, which is one of the room's predominant features. Constructed from rice straw, a traditional tatami mat measures 3 feet by 6 feet and is used to provide comfort for sitting or sleeping. 

Dating as far back as the 700s, tatami mats became a symbol of social status during ancient Japanese times. Only the wealthy could afford to rest on tatami mats. Commoners were forced to sit on the bare floor.Features 

Aside from the traditional mats, a tatami room also features low ceilings, futons or cushions for furniture, rice paper blinds and thin privacy screens called shoji instead of walls.Uses 

The open feel of a tatami room provides relaxation and peace of mind. In traditional Japanese culture, a tatami room often served to entertain visitors, conduct tea ceremonies, or house a religious altar. The room's airy design, straw mats and simple décor also helped alleviate the humid Japanese summers. 

The term tatami is derived from the Japanese word "tatumu," meaning "fold." Respect for tatami mats also started the tradition of removing one's shoes before entering a Tatami Room.

"Hello?Mayuko is that you?"

"No po Tita.It's me,Shoutaro."

"Shoutaro!! Are you with Mayuko? Kagabi pa sya nawawala I'm going crazy here. Pinahanap ko na sya kila Sebastian.'di nila makita sya,may gps nga yung phone nya.eh na kay Rin naman pala yung phone nya.Tell me you're with her." umiiyak na ko.

"Tita,She's with me.Don't worry."

"buhuhuhu.Thank God! I don't know what will I do if she disappear in my life. :'(( okay lang ba sya? wala bang nangyaring iba sakanya like panghihina? did she tell you na sumasakit yung puso nya or heartburn or whatever?"

"No tita.Okay lang po sya I promise.Tita..I'm taking her home.Dyan pa rin po ba kayo nakatira sa Ancestral House?"

sasagot na sana ako ng oo ng biglang nagsalita si Haru na nasalikod ko. Gusto daw nyang kausapin si Shoutaro.

"Yes.Shoutaro.may gusto pala kumausap sa'yo."

Haru's POV

"HELLO SHOUTARO!!" Pasigaw na bati ni Haru.

"Safe ba si Mayu-chan? kagabi pa namin sya hinahanap. walangya ka kasama mo lang pala sya.sobra kaming nagalala.yari ka dito pagbalik nyo.si Yuuta kagabi nag-iiyak alam mo naman 'to.medyo may pagka-crybaby."

"....." aba loko 'to huh.Ayaw ata akong kausapin.yari talaga sya sakin pagdating nila dito..sana okay lang si Mayu Ko. (A/N; Get it? Mayu Ko daw nya.LOL)

biglang inagaw sakin ni Sebastian yung butler daw ni Mayuko yung Phone.

Shouta's POV

"Hello Shoutaro.si Sebastian 'to. Buti nalang walang nangyaring masama kay Yuko-chan. *he sighed in relief* "
