pallets stacked in rows

piles of burlap, 

                    empty sacks

sparrows 

                    on the loading dock


garage door closing

baby sparrow in the dark

          trembling and thirsty

          battered little bird

cannot see the window pane

flying to the light


synchronicity

shadows dart across the sun

a flight of sparrows


sparrows taunt the hawk

gray-brown, 

                    feathered bombers

slip the raptor's claws
