GERARD's POV•

I sat in my room across the hall from Reilly's. I was worried where her well-being was concerned. Reilly didn't like to be dictated and I sensed that it was the truth but this was her safety was involved. She became my responsibility, my ward when I brought her to the ranch ... her safety became my priority.

I could tell that Reilly meant that she would be going to Ruby's Inn today ... as though it were a regular day. As though that wretched man hadn't pawned her off to a bunch of strangers at a poker match and by extension to the rightful winner, Billy Turner.

Reilly didn't appreciate how much of an attractive woman she was. It was almost as if she didn't know but how could she not, simply she was breathtaking.

There was evidence of it i.e. she'd caught the attention of several men. My farmhands talked about her a lot, not to mention, that night I'd taken her to the Palacio Danza several men had been gawking at her all night regardless of my presence and it made my blood boil with rage. That's why I held her as close to me as possible so that they thought twice about approaching her if by chance I'd visited the gents.

Reilly wasn't aware of what her innocents did to men ... to me. It was the most mesmerizing thing and there was no telling what a desperate sloppy man like Billy would do to ensure he got his prize.

Reilly's safety was my number one priority right now and despite what she thought going to Ruby's wasn't an option ... at least not today. Even if I had to take some drastic measures she wouldn't go today. Not with this drama fresh in everyone's system.

In a few strides, I made it across the hall with renewed determination turning on the doorknob, leaning forward in time to see Reilly step out of the bathroom ... in nothing but a towel. At the moment, my mind was wiped clean ... only thoughts of the gorgeous woman before me remained.

Reilly freaked out casting an incredulous glance my way before grabbing one of the pillows from the bed to hide her form regardless of the fact that she wasn't naked before me. It didn't end there, suddenly I was struck with something soft in my head. The object fell to the ground and my eyes followed it to its resting place. It was a pillow.

"Gerard!" Reilly shrieked before tossing another my way. "Haven't you heard ... it's called knocking. You should try it sometime."

I ducked so that the pillow missed me by miles and there were no missiles left to launched from the bed. I returned my gaze to her honey eyes which were glazed over with nervous excitement. I glared at her as I decreased the gap between us. She tried to make it for the bathroom but was no match for me.

"Gerard, what are you doing? Get away from me ... I'm not decent yet!" Reilly said over her shoulder, trying to free herself from my hand which enveloped her at the waist. "Ger, you're going to make me late for work."

"One, you should've thought of that before you challenged me. Two, you're not going to work ... at least not until those bastards cool off, and three, don't call me Ger ... that's what my sisters call me and you certainly aren't my sister." Her damp curl touched my cheek and my body became electrified.

"Yes ... I'm not you're sister, or your girlfriend, or your-"

"-Oh ... you are mine." I interrupted, speaking huskily into her ear. "But we could make it exclusive if you like? Be my girl ... and mine alone."

I turned her in my arms and was met with her dazed expression. I couldn't help but chuckle and she shook her head a bit to come out of her reverie.

"OK, can I go change, now?"

"Say it!" I gently squeezed her hips.

"Say what?" She asked, puzzled.

"Say it," I urged again.

"I'm your-" That was all she was able to get out before I arrested her lips. A hand moved from her waist to intertwine with the back of her damp hair. When I paused, looking at Reilly. Her beautiful lips were swollen and her hair was a bundle of mess. I suddenly realized that the pillow was still between us.

I shrugged before taking possession of her lips again, making slow, sweet, soft, teasing kisses against them while my hand found its way to her chin, caressing it gently. It was probably better that way. I probably would have lost it by now if the pillow hadn't been between us.

"Hey guys, hurry up." Someone called from beyond the hall putting a halt to the moment. "Breakfast is getting cold."

"Alright mom," I called back as my hands glided to her waist.

"Jerk!" The voice hollered animatedly.

"To be continued," I added quietly to Reilly.

"You're mother-" She quickly stepped out of my embrace as though I were scorching hot lava.

"-Is away on business with my father." I couldn't help but chuckle at her while she fixed a smouldering at me. "We'll talk more at breakfast."

"Ok," I heard her faint voice as I closed the door behind me and entered the hall. I had to take a bath myself and it seemed like it was going to be an even longer one.
