Falling Through Life

Tired, yes, but I don't want to sleep,
My eyelids drooping into the deep,
Where coral glows,
Where the red crabs creep,
The sand brushes against my toes,
But I'm falling,
Falling deeper into a sleep,

Far above me are the waves,
And the wind that gently breathes,
Now I want to be there and not here in my dreams
But there's water in my lungs
And an ocean in my eyes.

I'm at the surface of the sea,
But it crashes, thrashes, splashes at me
I try to scream out,
But none can here my plea,
I try to shout,
Salt burns by eyes and I cannot see
This water engulfs me I'll never be free.

I'm falling,
Into a vicious cycle of life,
I'm falling,
To where my thoughts are bitter
This is my world too,
But I'm falling.
And you're not.
