Chapter TWO:
Her eyelids slowly flutter open. Siren eyes topped with arched brows.
My heart is stuck in my throat. She's awake now.
Mariah's cheek is pressed up against my chest and I fear she will hear my heart beating itself up.
"I have waited for this moment for so long," he voice is raspy, I feel her smile as she lays a kiss on my bare chest and my thoughts melt away.
I see now why women are a weakness.
She doesn't want me at all. She's putting up a painful facade. Remember, Cameron. Don't forget.
But you know what? I have been too rational and calculative all my life and I think I would like to indulge a little in drug and delusion as well. Very well, Mariah. I'll play along with you-
-you will be shattered, burned and ruined by me- But you're tracing down my sides and you don't realize it but it's tearing them open- and your breasts are smashed against my stomach and I have realized I am truly just a man.
For this morning on June 25th, I will play along with your little game.
"Was it worth the wait?" I whisper to her, all breath.
And I find I don't hate being a little playful.
