as the practice session was called for an end the first thing gyuvin did was run over to where wanyi sat

with a wide cheerful smile he called out to her

but then ricky who was determined to not lose the girl again nudged him away from the shoulder

"hiii wANY-"

"let's go!" ricky quickly spoke cutting off gyuvin who looked at ricky confusingly with a frown

"OK! bye gyuvin" she smiled and waved at gyuvin ; ricky turned back with a sly smirk at the brunette who was left standing alone

just then someone slapped his ass "goodluck with trying to get her" he turned his head and faced jingxiang who smiled softly

"why'd you give up on her, thought we were competing" gyuvin asked with a fake chuckle

"i don't want to interfere, i mean she seems to like ricky alot"

jingxiang shrugged and his words caused gyuvin's heart to sink a bit as the revelation hit him hard, the weight of unrequited emotions weighed heavily on his shoulders

as they began their walk, the atmosphere was a blend of comfortable silence and shy glances

the sun cast a warm glow, and wanyi felt her heart flutter every time their shoulders brushed

"so, did you see that slam dunk i attempted?" ricky asked breaking the silence

wanyi laughed revealing her dimples "you barely grazed the rim"

"oh please, i still have a chance at the NBA, huh?"

they both burst into laughter, the tension from earlier disappearing completely

wanyi marveled at how easy it was to talk to ricky, their banter flowing effortlessly

she kind of figured out ricky's true colours were starting to show

the more they talked, the more wanyi realised that beneath ricky's cool facade was a person who opened up in subtle, unexpected ways

"you know" ricky began, his tone shifting to something more sincere and he sighed "im glad we decided to walk home together"

wanyi looked at him, her heart warming at his words "me too!but.." she admitted as her voice softened

"..why do you want to walk home with me, i mean this is so not you"

"honestly," ricky started nonchalantly and then fixed his eyes on her "i knew gyuvin would want to, so i seized my opportunity"
