The earth
cups its hands
And pours liquid-honey light
Into a puddle of sheer darkness
Milk blackened by ash
and sea salt,
That stings like static in
The crisp dewy air,
Grasping thin creamy light,
Piercing a black
that
is
not
black
But the darkest, wildest sea
And as it consumes cold rain,
This comforts the creatures
Who drift along the churns
Of soft sand and tangled coral,
Weathered down by the w i n d d d
That spirals through the ocean
Like a godly spider,
Hungry for the smooth chaos
And the power to
Take a step and pass the world by
As it turns and changes,
Tightens into frisky knots
And expands to graze the h e a v e n s
Where little children
With white wings and black talons
Play mortal for a penny.
They dance through
Rainy days
and rainy nights,
The clouds are their balloons
And thunder is their fire
To bury humans beneath the
Wet soil,
and mercy is their ammunition.
