On February 3rd 2011 Luke Hemmings (lead singer) started to post videos on his YouTube channel Hemmo1996, a while later bass player Calum Hood and guitarist Michael Clifford joined the band. A few days before their first gig at Annandale Hotel, Sydney, Australia they realised they needed a drummer so Michael called his friend Ashton Irwin and asked him if he would play drums for them, thankfully he agreed. On December 3rd 2011 5 Seconds Of Summer was created.
