Blue Moon

I've awoken at a time like this,

When the sky turns the world blue

All is still

Unseen birds sing soulful ballads

I find my way outside

Dew clings to my feet as I look up

The moon, hard to spot, is the same pale blue as the sky

Dark houses surround me; sleeping families nestled behind their walls

Afraid to disturb the peace, I'm silent

Breathe in. The world stops. No wind, no sound

Breathe out. The sun begins to rise.

My time here is done

I slip back into bed

As still and calm as when the sky turned the world blue
