Chapter 11:- A Sheer Lie

"Mom."

The caller was her husband's mother, Grandmother Sheng. Her tone was quite tough. "Did you arrange for Sheng Yang to study at Yan City High School?"

Kang Weizhen answered without hesitation, "Yes."

After a short pause, she asked tentatively, "Who told you this?"

Why had the news reached the old lady's ears so quickly? That was strange.

Kang Weizhen thought of Sheng Yue. No matter how well Sheng Yue disguised herself, Kang Weizhen could see through her real intentions.

After dealing with all kinds of people for so many years, she could easily tell if a person harbored evil intentions or not.

However, Sheng Yue was gentle and kind before.

"Is that the point? Walls have ears!" The old lady burst into anger, raising her voice. "Weizhen, do you know how many partners of the Sheng Family have children studying at Yan City High School? I understand you're very happy that Sheng Yang is back, but why does she have to study at Yan City High School?"

Kang Weizhen lowered her eyes. "Mom, she suffered so much since she was a child and she has the right to receive a good education. I brought her back home not to fulfill my wish but to make up for her for what she's lost."

The old lady sneered. "So you insist on sending Sheng Yang to Yan City High School?"

Without waiting for Kang Weizhen to respond, she quickly said overbearingly, "What if I don't agree?"

Kang Weizhen paused and answered adamantly, "Sheng Yang is my daughter. It's up to me which high school she goes to."

"Hmph... do you mean as her grandmother, I have no say in her affairs?"

Kang Weizhen smiled but her tone was very firm. "I didn't mean that, but you're elderly and deserve some peace and quiet. You don't have to worry so much about your granddaughter."

"How dare you..."

"Mom, it's getting late. Go to bed soon; I still have work to do. The board of directors is waiting for me to make a decision."

Not expecting Kang Weizhen to hang up on her, the old lady was so angry that her nostrils were almost smoking. She turned her head and said, "Xinyi, listen, listen to what she said. She didn't show me any respect! I told Old Sheng not to let Kang Weizhen manage the company, but he just didn't listen to me and even said that I knew nothing!"

She had tried repeatedly to persuade her husband to give more management rights of the company to their second son whom she trusted. She didn't like her elder son's wife at all. This was the Sheng Family's company! Even if her family had 50% of the company's shares, so what? When a woman was married, everything should belong to her husband. This woman just didn't know her place!

Jiang Xinyi massaged the old lady's shoulders gently, saying nothing.

Talking too much at such a time might backfire. She'd better just listen quietly.

The old lady continued to nag, "Honestly, your husband was stupid to refuse when Old Sheng offered to give him a branch office to manage. He said he'd rather lie down and just wait to receive dividends every year. He really shouldn't..."

Jiang Xinyi smiled. "Mom, he didn't mean that. I know him best. He was afraid of causing conflicts between elder brother and sister-in-law."

"She wouldn't dare!" The old lady scowled. "The Sheng Family belongs to the Shengs. She's not in a position to tell anyone what to do! Just because she has some power in her hands doesn't mean the Sheng Family is hers!"
