The Rescue Riders were camping out on a beach after a long day of rescues, and most of them were about to go to sleep.

"Um, hey, guys." Leyla spoke up to get their attention.

"Yeah?" Dak asked his sister, turning to face her as she spoke up again.

"Before I go to sleep I'm going to go for a walk to clear my head." She responded, getting nods from the others as they dozed off.

"What a beautiful night." Leyla said as she reached the point of her walk furthest away, when she heard a thud from nearby. "Hmmm."

That was the last thing she said before she felt a sharp hit that knocked her unconscious, before a old and dying night fury (hence why it had to toss a stone to distract her) dragged her away.

When it reached its cave it began drawing symbols on the ground, and cave walls around her.

A few hours later, Summer and Aggro woke up when Aggro accidentally rolled over Summer's tail causing her to instinctively release a waterblast in retaliation.

"Hey, where is Leyla?" Summer asked.

"She said she was going on a walk before going to bed. Maybe she is not back yet?" Aggro responded with a small yawn before she slowly stood to her feet.

"It's been a few hours though. She should have been back by now." Summer said, looking at the moon before turning back to Aggro fear in her eyes. "Something is wrong."

With that they decided to follow the footprints in the sand before they saw a Leyla shaped imprint on the ground with indications that she had been dragged away.

"Leyla!" Summer and Aggro both yelled, running after the trail.

It was at this point Leyla woke up, and saw she had been captured by an old night fury, one so old his scales were starting to turn white with age.

"What do you want with me?" She asked him, only for him to ignore it as he did not know she could speak dragon.

He then went to a different section of the cave and put his paw on a symbol on the wall of the cave, and channeled his power into it, releasing immense pressure that pinned her down, though she did see Aggro and Summer run up at this point only for it to also create a barrier that they could not cross, even their voices could not cross as she could see them calling for her, but could not hear them. Though she did not know that they could hear her, since it was a one way barrier only. It was at this point the old night fury began to speak.

"Oh spirits of lightning and death, here my plea." He called in a really old voice. "As far as I know I am the last living night fury, child of lightning and death. The others were killed long ago when our home was attacked by an alpha red death. And as far as I know there was no survivors not even eggs. I do not wish for my species to die out, but old age is about to claim me, so I beseech you. Judge this human, the first to come within my territory in years and if you deem them worthy take my life yourselves in exchange for permanently turning her into a night fury so that our species may continue."

With that, the pressure became even more intense before with a bright flash of lightning, Leyla became a night fury while the old one died. Once the night fury had taken his last breath, the barrier was broken and Summer and Aggro raced over to comfort her. For they all knew that by having the great spirits transform her and including the word permanently in the chant it was indeed permanent, and Leyla the human was no more, now it was Eclipse the Night fury.
