Long Gone

I never thought it was so fine and pure

I wish I had seen it through.

Now, I’m filled with tears

As you walk away in fear.

My body is shaking

My heart is aching.

I’m a monster in your eyes,

But I know you are wise

Enough to see through this mask.

Now, let me ask

You this,

Was it the kiss?

Or the endless abyss

Beneath our bare feet

That dragged you towards me?

Don’t you remember that day?

When everything had its way,

And we were just waiting to see what happened next

Now, everything is so much more complex.

Why can’t you believe the love I have is real?

Now, as I kneel to the floor in tears and pain

Blood flows down my wrist from out my vein

Now, I’ve bled

Knowing all this will be over soon and I’ll be dead
