"So you're telling me that she had fooled you for the past almost three weeks and you couldn't figure it out until now?"

Sirius had returned to Gryffindor tower after that spat with Olivia Walker, to inform his friends and then he would go into his dormitory to be glum.

Sirius glared at his best friend.

"How about you shut your mouth if you know what's good for you, Prongs?"

James leaned back into the couch, his arms folding over his chest. "But it's true though. Why didn't you try to confront her earlier, if you were suspicious? You even told us but didn't ask Walker for the truth!"

Sirius sighed, leaning forward, staring into the open fire. "I was scared of being wrong and losing her. I really wanted to give it a chance, but my gut told me something was wrong from the start with Walker. I just was afraid of ruining everything." Sirius groaned, "But I blew it! My secret admirer probably hates me!" Sirius buried his face in his hands, his eyes beginning to water.

A hand gently touched Sirius' shoulder in a comforting manner, "I'm sorry, Pads, but maybe if you try to explain it to her, there's a chance it could save everything."

Sirius looked up at Remus who was standing in front of him.

"I don't know, Moony. Why would she believe me now?" Sirius hollowly mumbled out.

Remus flashed an encouraging smile, "You'll never know for sure unless you try."

Which is exactly what Sirius did a few minutes later. His hand held a tremble as he went to write in the diary.

Hey, love.

Please answer me.

I know I messed up.

I thought Walker was you, but she knew about the secret admirer thing somehow. I felt there was something off from the start but I took too long to ask for the truth. I broke off all contact with her when I realized she wasn't you. To be honest, I couldn't seem to progress into something more but I wanted to try since I thought she was you.

I am so, so, sorry, darling. I know I've hurt you, and I am extremely sorry.

I know you're a beautiful and amazing person, and if you could give this broken, stupid boy one chance, I'll be forever grateful.

Please.

Sirius waited with bated breath for perhaps a reply may come through, but after minutes of staring at the blank parchment, he closed it with a defeated sigh. He fell back onto his mattress and released a groan.
