"You smell familiar," says Kylie as we walk out of math.
I laugh awkwardly. "We live together Kylie. Maybe that's where you might know me from?" I answer with cheek.

Kylie frowns. "No you smell like a man. One I haven't smelled in a very long time," she explains. I tense. "Well you know. I've been to places in the school I haven't been in before. I bumped into a few people on the way," I try play it off.

"I say what you're smelling is a mix of different people," I explain. She shakes her head. "No you smell of a powerful wolf," she says suspicious. "Who were you with?" she sounds like she's losing her temper with me.

I shrug. "Don't you think if it was someone worth mentioning I'd mention him?" I say simply. We reach our lockers from where we pull out our gear bags for next class, gym.

"So it is a he," She pokes my side. I chuckle. "Did I say he? I meant it," I say and Kylie laughs. We walk to the girls changing rooms. I get into my black leggins and t shirt. I pull an oversized hoodie over my head and walk out to the court with Kylie by my side.

There, our gym coach hands us a basketball and tells us to shoot around while he sorts out some papers.

Basketball use to be my thing before I discovered parties. Now with my already tight schedule I don't have time for a daily practice session.

We do as we were told. Taking turns to take a free shot while the other catches the rebounds. We get a decent pattern going which quickly just becomes natural. With only 10 minutes left before we should get back into our normal clothes it doesn't look like there will be a proper gym class today.

"What do you think the papers are about?" asks Kylie before taking a shot and missing it. I catch the ball. "I don't know," I answer. "And honestly I don't care," I add. What could be important or interesting about a gym teachers job?

Just as we decide that we should probably change out of gym clothes our teacher walks onto the court. "Okay everybody listen up," he calls out as we gather around him. "Today we have a special guest who will test your abilities to be recruited to the defense or warrior positions in the pack," he tells us.

He starts explaining the importance of warriors and defense in the pack but I don't listen because my nose catches a faint scent of the luring forest and cologne. Dillon must be close.

To answer my confused wolf, Dillon appears from behind the door. His eyes turning to meet mine immediately. He narrows his eyes and frowns almost like he's not happy to see me.

'Don't tell me you're in this class.' I hear him mind link me. But instead of answering I simply choose to ignore him and block him out. This only seems to irritate him more.

The gym coach turns to Dillon and bows his head politely. "Everyone meet Dillon. I'm sure many of you know him as the Alphas son. He will be leading the training and recruiting," he introduces us. I look at Kylie who is staring at me with her mouth wide open.

"You.." she whispers pointing to me then to Dillon. "You were with.. Is he your...." she whispers excitedly before I clasp my hand firmly down on her mouth to shut her up. "Kylie can we talk in the changing rooms for a second?" I question then pull her away. Past the crowd and past Dillon who watches me with a close eye.

I release my grip once we get into the changing rooms and she explodes with chatter. "OMG you were with the Alphas son! Is he your mate? What did he say? More importantly what did you do?" she squeals hopping up and down.

I debate with myself weather I should tell her the truth or not. Kylie is the biggest gossiper in the school. She just can't keep her mouth shut and if others find out I don't know what Dillon might do. What if he rejects me?

But on the other hand Kylie is my best friend. Plus since when do I allow a man to tell me what to do? Feeling rebellious I smile. "Yes we are mates," I admit feeling like a rock lifted of my shoulders. She squeals. "But Kylie no one must know. He told me to keep us a secret," I tell her.

"If someone finds out he might reject me so please, please stay quiet," I beg and she nods. "Girl I got your back," she assures me. I sigh. "I don't know why he's keeping us a secret," I explain frustrated. Kylie shrugs. "I'm sure he has a valid reason," she says.

"You can consider that later. Now let's go out to your mate," she says and grabs my hand to pull me back out to the court. There we find a few mats and cones set up probably for the training thing with Dillon. Kylie pulls me past Dillon to go join the group but Dillons strong arm stops us.

"Jessica can I speak to you alone please?" he asks. The way he says my name makes me want to repeat what happened earlier. I knit my eyebrows. "No. I have a class to attend," I answer and try pull my hand out of his grip but it only tightens.

"Yes. One that I'm leading so you have no other choice," he tells me annoyed. He looks at Kylie who runs back to the group without a second to spare. I turn to Dillon and frown. "Don't scare my friend off like that," I say annoyed.

Dillons face softens and his grip loosens slightly but is still firm enough to keep me from running away. "I just want to talk," he explains. I nod and follow him into the coaches empty office. I scoff. "Would you look at that we are in an office again," I say. "It's all we do. Hide in offices," I add

Dillon rolls his eyes making me even more irritated. He looks at me then his face turns from angry to relaxed. "Can we just talk? You don't have to be so difficult," he says. I'm tempted to argue but I decide to keep my mouth shut.

"What?" I ask. Dillon takes a deep breath. "You're not taking part in the recruiting," he informs me. My eyes widen. "Yes I am!" I answer. He shakes his head.

"No you're not. I'm not letting you."
