The warm sun spreads its gentle glow,
Over the fields smothered by snow.
When Mother Nature has woken up from her long sleep,
Sleep is hard for the other creatures to keep.
A little blue bird has emerged from his nest,
So Mother Nature welcomes him back from his rest.
He sings to her and seems to know that she,
Has been looking after him as he slept in his tree.
As the snow melts slowly into the soft earth,
She shows all that she is worth.
The sun's golden rays radiate through the trees' canopies,
And bright colours are all that you can see.
Various shades of green compliment,
Flowers that give off a sweet-smelling scent.
Her beauty is overwhelming and,
Travels far across the land.
Deer graze on the lush grasses,
While others search for different pastures.
Here, amazing and magnificent is what Spring is,
A lone wolf howls claiming the valley as his,
An owl hoots in its hollow,
In an old cherry tree...old it seems to know.
Two frogs croak to one another,
While two birds sing to each other.
The sky is now flawless,
When once clouds made it a mess.
A grizzly bear lumbers outside his cave,
He still has some of the body fat he tried to save.
Fat kept him warm while he hibernated,
Now, because of his fur, he looks inflated.
All of the forest's inhabitants are now awake,
And most will take a path to the lake.
The lake is large and barely unfrozen,
The one standing tree beside it is home to a small ren.
Animals mingle along the way,
And when they reach the lake most decide to stay.
The evening brings nocturnal hunters,
Wolves howl and cougars purr.
It's the end of the day and Winter is no more,
The season is done for.
The season's first sun has burned,
And finally Spring has returned.
