You had just had a rough day at work and were tired out from the grueling customers, your boorish manager and your airhead of a co-worker Mabel. You virtually threw your green apron off the minute your shift ended, feeling not to bad despite the abominable day you had. You were almost out the door, until you heard your manager call you an "idiot" under her breath as she made eye contact with you before pushing past to get to her jacket.

That did it. You had held it all in up until now and with the one pernicious word that a rancorous middle aged chain-smoker appearing woman said, threw you for a loop in your strength. You ran out the door and into your car where you cried pitiful tears. It felt like hours that you cried but it was only 20 minutes after you looked up to see everyone's cars were gone and yours was the only one on the lot. You started your car and drove off to your apartment that you shared with your boyfriend Harry.

As you walked up the steps after deciding that taking the long way up would give you time to think and maybe squeeze out a few extra tears, you finally made it to your door where you struggled to turn the key and come inside. You just hoped Harry wasn't home because you hated for him to see you so 'pathetically distressed' as you would call it. But as your luck today had it, he was right in the kitchen about to greet you with a hug and a kiss like he always did.

"Hey babe, how was-" "Hey Harry, I gotta use the bathroom." You said weirdly as you ran up the your bedroom and locked the door, not even caring how it made you look to your boyfriend.

You didn't even bother to take your uniform off, you just buried your face into your pillow and sobbed hard. The caustic actions of your job made you cry more harsher as you couldn't help but think about the torture you put up with for 5 dollars an hour just to finance your share of the rent and car payments along with other bills that you had.

A small knock interrupted your engrossed cries. You sniffled. "Yes?" "Hey yn, are you okay?" Harry asked with a soft voice that signaled intent concern. At first you found it annoying a little that Harry at times wouldn't leave you alone in times like this, but it was only because he cared so much that you began to appreciate it. "I'm fine, just tired." But Harry knew better. "Can I come in?"

"No, that's okay, I'm not dressed." The lies continued. Harry went back into the kitchen puzzled on what to do. He looked at the eggs and milk that were already on the counter that struck an idea into him. Harry took out some flour, sugar and vanilla extract out to add to the already ready made ingredients. He took out a big bowl and started mixing in the ingredients.

You could hear the mixer going from the other room, but you didn't think too much of it. You finally decided to change into some fuzzy pajamas and grabbed your laptop to do some work. It was after 20 minutes when Harry took the cookies from the oven, after you had unlocked the door. "Something smells good." You said before walking back to your bed not realizing that a plate of confections were waiting outside the door along with a cool mug of milk.

"Yn, I have something for you!" "Door's open!" You called as Harry walked in and set a big plate of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and a mug of milk. A feeling of adulation overwhelmed you as Harry plopped kisses on your cheeks while serving you some of his soft and gooey cookies. "I'm sorry your day was so sour yn. But hopefully this makes it better." He dabbed your nose with some residue chocolate and you both giggled while munching on the cookies.

The sweet treat was a big "I love you" from Harry that you couldn't have enjoyed more.
