The alarm rang out loud and clear

I dragged myself out of my deep sweet slumber

Tip-toed to the kitchen and strained my ear

Mom's making breakfast, dishes many in number

The cock crowed as if it was the end of the world

He woke up from an uncomfortable sleep, covered in hay

His baby sister lay beside him, deep asleep, body all curled

His stomach rumbled with hunger and so began another day

Maths, Science, English, my bag was fully packed

I hated going to school, but I had no choice

Imagination was one thing which I completely lacked

I trudged on, sulking, and got into my Rolls Royce

He stared at the unopened packet of cake in his hand

Wondering why someone has thrown it away

He wished he could read the expiry date and brand

That is when the huge hulk of a car passed his way

I looked out through the window and saw a kid my age

I wish I could be like him, no school, no books, always free

But every time I tell my dad about this, he would fly up into a rage

And to cool him off, I would have to use many a plea

He gazed in amazement as the car sped by

How he wished he was the boy inside

They say all men are equal, but it's all one big lie

Life is like approaching from either side of a slide

Some have a hard time climbing from bottom to the top

Some start from the top and simply glide!
