The FBI was finally leaving my friends alone, did this mean they had given up on finding me? I'd all but confirmed that I was with him by disappearing. I should have run with Jake the minute he'd asked me too. I'd only made things more complicated and more dangerous. The only thing that had on Jake was pictures from his youth, they didn't know what he looked like now. But me? I'd walked straight into their lair and given them everything they could need to find me. And him.
Selfish. That's what I was. Over and over again.
The kitchen floor was cold against my bare feet, my slippers were packed away somewhere and I hadn't bothered to find them. I yawned as I placed a mug under the coffee pot, hitting start. Moments later the pot sizzed and the scent of fresh coffee filled the air.
Slipping a second mug in I slipped a hot chocolate pod in. A quick pour of sweetner later, and a nice dose of sugar Jake's mug sat steaming on the counter.
I clicked on Jessy's profile, hoping to find a picture of the mysterious man she was seeing. She kept promising to send me a picture but never did. I swiped up. Nothing happened. I swiped again. Nothing.
The app closed and all of the apps on my home screen started to shake, and then stopped. It was like an invisible hand was commanding the screen of my phone. Opening up message apps, emails and then my photos. Only when it selected the most recent picture...the picture was one I hadn't taken.
