bad choices

My brother once told me not to make an
important decision when I am mad.
He said that when we are mad our mind is
as dangerous as an active minefield,
that our conscious was never meant to cross.

In this state, we move just to protect us,
seemingly the only thing we can do
in order to avoid all the wrong steps.
We don't realize that if we just waited,
the minefield would fade and reveal the path.

A path filled with people who love us and
want nothing more than to see us succeed.
Friends who hold up signs to show us the way.
Our conscious no longer fearing the steps
it needs to take to make the right choices.
