World Peace

The droplets fall to the ground.
Shocking but soothing with spray and sound.
Puddles glisten by my front door.
My lungs fill calmly with petrichor.

A melancholy shudder rushes through my veins
As the streets shift to quiet, beautiful and strange.
I watch new inhabitants emerge from the dirt.
On this changed planet, the power inverts.

Water pours from the heavens.
Impact causes Earthbound confessions
As our sinful footprints are washed away.
The world can heal and grow for another day.

And we watch from behind speckled glass
As the last of the diamonds hit the grass.
I see evaporation, nature’s way to recycle.
I stare in awe at the strategic cycle to life’s survival.
