CHAPTER 2 - THE OTHER SIDE

JAMES' POV

I'm late for school, late for a morning meeting, and a major big exam today. Kung hindi lang talaga ako medyo inaantok ngayon, hindi ako dadaan ng coffee shop.

Medyo nagulat yata itong babaeng kumuha ng order ko at hindi niya ako agad nakita.

"James" ang sagot ko sa tanong niya kung anong pangalan ang ilalagay sa cup. Ano nga bang pangalan niya? Hindi ko makita ang kanyang name tag...

"Yes, hello? Yes Dr. Castro, malapit na po ako sa school. Sorry got a bit late, medyo traffic po kasi while I was on my way. I'll see you in a bit".

At tumatawag na ang aking council adviser. Sana ganito din ang mga magulang ko, tatanungin kung nasaan na ako, kakamustahin ang araw ko pagka-uwi ng bahay, pinepressure ako sa mga bagay bagay na pinapatrabaho sa akin, pero hindi eh. Hindi ko nga sila halos makasama. Lagi kasi silang nasa ibang bansa para sa trabaho nila. Meeting doon, meeting dito. Kung madadatnan ko naman sila sa bahay, it's either maaga silang nakakatulog dahil sa pagod, o ayaw nilang magpa-istorbo.

Kaya nga ginagawa ko ang lahat para lang mapansin nila ako. Nag-aaral ako para magexcel, sumasali ako sa mga sports competition o ibang paligsahan, tumakbo ako bilang council officer. Pero wala parin, hindi parin nila ako napapansin. Oh well, too much for a morning thought.

"One cappuccino, venti for James" tawag ng babae.

Dali dali kong kinuha at dahil kailangan ko na talagang magmadali.

"We were just talking how are we going to get sponsors for the event next month, James" ang paliwanag ni Dr. Castro

"Ah yes, Sir. Actually I've already thought of this last night. Why don't we attract sponsors? We should give them a package deal that if they sponsor our event, they'll be given different set of packages for their advertisement. And, I've already come up with assignments with the rest of the council officers here for our targeted sponsors to work on" ang sagot ko sa kanya.

"I think that's a good idea. Just give me the set of packages you've come up with and I'll consult it with the marketing department. I just have to leave early now, I have another meeting with the faculty"

"Alright, Sir! I'll email it to you by tonight. We'll just continue with the meeting for the other details for the event"

This is a big event for the university. Next week na ang University Week at iba't ibang contests, seminars ang ginagawa every year para sa lahat ng mga estudyante, organizations, at kahit ano pang kurso nila.

"James, wala pa tayong contestants para sa mga contests. Ang hirap makapag-coordinate sa mga organizations. They're not submitting on time," sabi ni Riza, ang aming secretary

"Yes, I've noticed that. Kaya nga tomorrow, I'll be meeting with some of them already to talk about it at para narin ipaliwanag ang mga mangyayari for next week

"As usual, Mr. Lopez got the highest score in today's examination. Congratulations, James" ang wika ni Mrs. Jimenez at sabay bigay ng aking results

"You may go now class, next meeting, be ready for our next lesson"

"Mr. Lopez, keep it up, and you'll be the class' top student until you graduate"

"Thank you ma'am, I intended to keep it that way" Pabiro kong sinabi

"Meanwhile, I still haven't talked to your parents regarding about our outside seminar, papayagan ka ba na pumunta ng Cebu?" ang tanong niya sa akin

My parents doesn't even care kung nasaan ako, magpapaalam pa ba ako?

"Ah yes, ma'am. They've been just busy for a while. I think I can go. I'll make sure to tell them for the consent"

"Okay great, so we have to push it through then. Sayang naman kung hindi ka makakasama. It's a great opportunity for you as well"

Isa nanamang napaka-habang araw. Kahit wala akong klase bukas, kailangan ko paring pumasok for meetings. Been used to it already.

"Kuya, kung nandito ka lang, alam kong proud ka sa akin, may masasabihan ako ng mga ganitong bagay. Siguro mas papansinin ako nila mom at dad. " ang wika ko sa sarili habang nakatingin sa larawan namin noong mga bata pa
