ELEVEN YEAR OLD VALERIA WAS STANDING IN THE DRAGON PIT FACING INTO THE TUNNEL, behind her were a few adults who were teacher her to bond with her dragon. None of her brothers or uncles were with her as they were in the training field; practicing on using swords. She glanced back at the man who was speaking to her with haste causing her to blank out what he'd told her to do, the woman next to him smiled and started to translate.
"He wants you to call Nightshade to heel when he is brought up, Princess Valeria." She said as a couple of men began to bring her dragon up.
Valeria smiles at the dragon that seemed to try and shake the men off of him, the black dragon's eyes had now set on her and she'd noticed how his purple scales had started to seep through; he was so beautiful. Once the men stepped away, Valeria stepped closer waiting for the dragon to come to her.
He came at her with a quick pace causing her to call out, "heel, boy." The dragon stopped, but it snarled towards her – showing off his pointy teeth that made her shiver. "Serve!" She calls out watching as he hovers and tries to come closer to her.
"Well done," the elder man spoke, his eyes seemed to light up when Nightshade snapped his head up and looked another direction.
Valeria knew what was coming, she watched as her dragon began to go towards the now squealing goat. "Nightshade, halt!" She ordered, her voice full of authority causing the dragon to look at her and stop. It glared at the goat, "eyes on me!" The dragon turned it's amethyst coloured eyes into her violet ones, both were having a staring match before he put his neck to the ground showing submission.
The Princess felt as though she and the dragon were the only ones in the room, she then turned to the goat and smiled at her dragon. "Dracarys!" Everyone on the pit held their breaths, they'd never seen a dragon listen on the first go, they'd watched the dragon give his rider a slow nod before firing at the goat.
Nightshade had went over to eat the goat that he'd burned and Valeria felt proud of herself. She turned around to the people that watched in wonder before the man called out once more, "incredible, Princess. You've now bonded with Nightshade, come here tomorrow and get more practice." He said giving her a bow as she looked back once more at her dragon and then turned to leave with her guard following after her.

"You're telling me that you got a bond with your dragon on the first go?!" Jacaerys shouts grabbing some attention from people in the training area, "how did you do it!"
"It was easy," she shrugged and looked down at Lucerys who'd now grabbed onto her hand. "You have to be confident and not show fear, let the dragon come to you, show dominance." She says, "you go there in a couple of days, don't you?" She watches him nod, "I'll come with you and guide you through it."
She watched as her older brother cheered with happiness and let's her eyes wander around the courtyard, she found her Uncle Aemond's eyes and noticed the longing look in his eyes, she'd sent him a smile causing him to look away and go back to practically stabbing the wooden post.
"Jace, continue what you've been doing out here, alright?" She mumbles before pulling Lucerys with her, "I'm going to take this one and myself to clean ourselves up before dinner." She said before walking into the castle. "But I want to stay with Jace!" Luke's small voice echoed through the halls as she took him to their mother.
"What we're you doing today, Luke." She asked him as she walked through the halls, "did your egg hatch?"
"Yeah! It hatched this morning when you left for the pit!" Her heart swelled at hearing his excitement in his voice, "I did as you said. I told the egg about my day and all of a sudden it started breaking as of it heard my voice!"
"That's amazing, Luke." She says ruffling his curly hair, "maybe once dinner is over, you can come to my room for a little while and eat some lemon cakes." Lucerys turns and gasps really loudly before nodding his head, "well, you need to behave at dinner first and no picking on Aemond."
"I promise I won't!" He shouts as soon as they reached their mother and father's chambers. The guards outside of the door called out both of their names before opening the doors for them causing a very pregnant Rhaenyra who was seated on the bed looked over at them with a smile.
"Ah, my sweet children." She mumbles as she reached out for the both of them, though she grasped tightly onto Valeria's hand, "how was your day?"
"Valeria bonded with her dragon on the first day! She didn't have to do what Jace does, she's amazing, right Mother?!" He shouts excitedly before his silver haired sister could even speak up causing both mother and daughter laugh.
"That's great, Val." She says, "I'm so proud of you." Valeria blushes and thanks her mother, "and you Luke, congratulations on your egg hatching!"
The chamber was once again filled with his enthusiastic shouts. "I'm going to be just like Jace and Val now!"
Valeria chuckles, "no! You can't be me I'm too stubborn and Jace is too big headed! You have to stay my adorable little brother forever, don't ever change!"
Both siblings start to playfully bicker at each other causing Rhaenyra to wish they wouldn't change, they were both her babies and they always brought light into her sight and she hopes that when they grow up, that they don't change.
