"I absolutely adore Nick Drake. I was given a gift over Easter of some rare recordings he did after Pink Moon and I'm so inspired. I feel like I have so much in common with him despite being born a long time after he passed away. He's the only artist I can't listen to and not explain the construction of his song. As a musician and songwriter it's easy to listen to a song and retrace the composers steps and piece together how and why they wrote it - both sonically and lyrically. Nick Drake is the only artist i physically cannot pick apart, the other thing I can do is listen to him and enjoy him without any understanding. It's almost as his songs are spherical and I can't pick a point where everything could unravel from. His dislike of fame and attention is somewhat similar to my thoughts on everyone knowing who you are. I wish I could be successful but with no one prising into my personal life. I'm hardly anyone at all but a small minority of people seem to really care about small things such as 'who my boyfriend is' or 'if i smoke' or 'how much money i have' when it really shouldn't be about that. Luckily for me, I dont get much of it at all. The majority of my fanbase is incredibly supportive and I have met some amazing people by doing music! But I can understand how it could break a person, like it did for Nick Drake...I think everyone should go sit in the dark, with a cup of green tea and listen to this with your eyes closed..." - @GabrielleAplin

I totally agree with what she says. When I say and write about music being dragged down, I mean this exactly. Now a days it's more about the artist's personal life rather than his/her/their music. Its no longer about the music. it's all about the fame. That is very sad. I don't like asking famous people for follow backs on Twitter because I really don't care. I care about how good the music is or rather should be. This fame and glory and praise takes away the beautifulness of the music. And I could name a couple of, that if it wasn't for their personal lives and fame, their music career would be dead. Consider this: If you want better music, don't blame the generations, don't blame music because music itself no matter what genre or style it is, it is beautiful and it is music, just try to make things better yourself. Music and writing are my life, and this truly matters and makes me sad. I care about music more than I thought I could. It is my friend and I could not have asked for a better friend. So my point is, when I say shit music, I mean shit singer who does it for fame and their career revolves more around who they are and how they dress and who they date and whether they smoke/drink or not. Music is about music; it is not about the music maker's life.
