Magdalena Vance has lived in the same house her entire life. She's had the walls around her memorized for as long as she could remember - even her height markings were scratched into the doorframe of her bedroom. Or the scuff marks from her dads old work boots made in the entry way.

She knows that the bathroom she shares with her sister is directly down the hall of her bedroom and to the right, her sister's room across the hall. She knows the window in her mother's bathroom is always open.

Magdalena also knows she has loved a boy, her everlasting soft boy. And everyone knows how he disappeared. A case unsolved. They still talk about the car accident a mile from town, everyone knows about the blood that was apparently everywhere. Everything is known but yanknow, a duality that Magdalena had never been able to understand.

Jasper Hale, new boy extraordinaire alongside his four captivating siblings knows Magdalena is hurting. Something he doesn't know is why. What is tearing at her so badly.
