Halloway Street Murder Case Part One

Detective Lynch Grover was 24 years old when he quit or rather discharged from the force.

He took on a new profession, he became a private investigator

...

"The former mayor is currently missing for three days" Lynch's television said

"They didn't even bothered to say one more missing person" Lynch sighed

He was goofing around his office, waiting for a job. Normally the job requests are lost pets cases. But not this particular one.

One day...

His colleague from the force called for a request. The police needs help to solve a certain letter. The letter contains the following words.

"Solve This before the fall of the rise or I'll continuously kill with every late day"

With the letter, there contains two photos with two dead bodies each, and each body has a different code cut through their chests

'Ghdwk Frphv Wr Wkrvh Zkr Zdlw'

'3-12-6-9-6-12-11-12-11-8-3'

The Police was confused as to what the code means. They already dispatched a team to decode the given numbers and letters. but after Five hours, they still have no clue

Detective Lynch was standing at his office, looking at the photos and files given to him by his colleague

He carefully looked on the two pictures of the bodies. He can surely point out that they were both male. the faces were covered. but he can point out that one of them is a teenager, considering his body shape

And the other was a middle-aged man, still, given the fact that he was killed while wearing a business suit and the silver hair at the top of the deceased's head

The setting of the murder scene can be described as a dark alley, the occasional dumpster at the side, bricked walls surrounding the alley way, and the 'no lights' feature of most of the alley ways on crime scenes

...

Meanwhile, in the police station.

"Tell me, are there any leads yet?" Chief of police Mercury said

"Still nothing" one officer said

"I have one" Said One certain Private Detective

"Lynch!" Mercury exclaimed

"Are you getting rusty old man? I've already solved the code" Lynch said with a confident tone

"I'm only Thirty-two Grover, well enlighten us" Mercury said hysterically

"You see, it's very easy to decode it. Ever heard of the Ceasar Cipher?"

By this time a crowd gathered around Lynch.

He continued "The Ceasar Cipher can be deciphered by taking three steps behind. For example, the code said Ghdwk, if you decipher it, it becomes Death, it can be done by taking three steps behind."

The crowd was in awe as if they haven't seen the light of day after a lifetime inside a cave

"Of course!" Mercury Shouted "Why didn't you thought of that cipher!" He lectured his lower police officers

"If you decipher the whole sentence, it will say Death comes to those who wait"

Cold sweat ran down everyone's spine

"Do the same thing to the numbers" Mercury requested to the officers

The police quickly solved the codes and called the number that was deciphered.

The phone was ringing... ringing... and ringing. But finally, someone answered

"The murder was on Halloway street" A faint but very horrifying voice whispered

Mercury quickly ordered a dispatch team to search the said street.

They searched the alleys specifically

"Sir!" an officer called Mercury, and Lynch followed

"Hmm, search their pockets for Identification" Mercury ordered

The two bodies were that of a slim teenage boy and a well built Middle-aged man.

A suitcase was lying around the corner

"Hey Lynch, what do you think?" Mercury asked

"I'm quite skeptic about this being a random killing" Lynch answered

"Sir!" the officer came back

He handed two I.D's

'Mark Affier' and 'Russel McGee'

"Call the former Mayor Alvin Affier right now" Lynch ordered to the officer "And call the relatives of the Current Mayor right now" Lynch continued with a feeling of discomfort

The officer called the former Mayor "Sir, there's an accident involving your son"

And then he called the Wife of the current Mayor Russel McGee "Mrs. McGee? if you ever get this message, please report to the Police Station, we have some matters concerning the Mayor"

After some hours The former Mayor and the Wife of the current Mayor arrived at the same time at the Police Station where Lynch and Mercury was

"Who killed my son?!" The Former Mayor said whilst grabbing Lynch's collar

"Who murdered my Husband?! I demand for you to tell me!" The Wife burst out in tears and was comforted by the Former Mayor

"I'm sorry to interrupt you, but I need to ask questions" Mercury gestured to the room where they question

Lynch was not allowed to be there for the interrogation for he is not part of the police anymore

After some time...

"Sorry for the trouble Mr. Affier and Mrs. McGee" Mercury said

The Former Mayor and The Wife of the Deceased Current Mayor left together

"Get some sleep Lynch, we're going to a party tomorrow morning to reassure the safety of the two" Mercury continued talking

"Why am I have to be there too?! I'm not police, you do it!" I whined

"Because if you don't, I'll arrest you for interfering with Police work" My argument backfired on me
