IT WAS THE NEXT MORNING as the watery sun shone through the gray clouds, melting the snow that was stuck around only slightly. We all trekked through an open field, the path overgrown, having not been trodden on in a while. Behind me, I heard a scuffling of shoes as Rebecca stumbled for the fourth or fifth time.
Bonnie: You alright?
Luke: She's exhausted. We all are.
Rebecca: I can keep going.
The red-haired woman stepped back, holding Bec's arm to steady her and help her walk.
Luke: We shoulda stayed put. We shoulda stayed put until she was in better shape.
Kenny: She wasn't gonna get no better back there. We gotta find food, get her someplace warm.
Luke: This look like someplace warm to you? We could still turn back.
Kenny: That's not an option. Everybody hang in there. We gotta keep movin' if we're gonna make it to that town before nightfall.
Luke: You don't even listen to anyone else. You just go barkin' orders. You gotta lighten up, okay? You're pushing 'em too hard.
