Unbroken

The unbroken silence is overwhelming
Forgetting that the heart is ever swelling
The black frost is creeping in
Foreboding hopeless feelings within
Never today will I surrender my love
Or until the unappealing deed is done
During which I will seize your half of my heart
And use the pieces to mend my part

Three days later the deed is done
I fear I am no longer the only one
Who wallows in darkness
with tears in their eyes
Waiting and waiting
for someone to hear their cries
But, as usual nothing subsides
And the question that usually refuses to die
Is
Why?
