The Apocalypse

We never thought it would happen. It's absurd, unthinkable. But suddenly dirt has become our most valuable resourse.

A strange disease, a glitch maybe, has rendered the dirt from the surface and nearly twenty blocks down useless. All the grass stopped growing, and all the animals have died from lack of food and the disease. With no animals to kill and no crops to farm, getting dirt that can be used to farm is humanity's top priority.

Some people had a chest of the stuff when the infection hit, and they had enough to keep going. Others scour the caves for pockets of the stuff, or are going through old mineshafts looking for the material that once was expendable. The redstone experts are trying to convert the infected dirt back to normal, while still more people venture to the Nether in hopes of finding dirt left there as a simple way to get to a fortress.

People are stealing and killing just to get a single block of dirt, just to have the small chance of feeding themselves. People are starving all over the world. We seem to have no hope.
