Magic

This is a poem about a very special night that I spent while camping in Blue Pond Park.

It was a park about 30 minutes or so from the town I grew up in.

I was maybe 17 at the time this night occured. To many it would seem non eventfull, but to me it was a night that has remaind in my heart ever since.

It was truly a Magic night.

Magic

I remember that night like it was yesterday

I hope the memory never fades away

It was magic

Simply magic

Partying with my friends, drinking, singing along

But as the sun set, all my party was gone

I went for a walk, alone, to clear my head

Wasn’t too long after I saw a girl up ahead

She was coming my way, I quickly said, “Hello”

And continued on my way, with no where to go

She called to me, told me her name

I walked back, smiling, and did the same

Her name was Connie, she was visiting from away

This was her last night, she was leaving the next day

Said her family was sleeping, early morning on the road

Asked if I wanted to walk with her, if I had no where to go

I remember that night like it was yesterday

I hope the memory never fades away

It was magic

Simply magic

Many would say the night was a waste of time

But of course they had other things in mind

For me it was a special night, a moment dear

One that has stayed with me, all these years

We walked for hours around Blue Pond Park

The full moon and stars lighting the dark

We talked about our dreams, where our lives were bound

We laughed and sang and danced around

We lay on the beach, looking at the sky

Her head on my chest, her hand holding mine

And as we silently stared at the stars above

I felt for the first time, what it felt to be in love

I remember that night like it was yesterday

I hope the memory never fades away

It was magic

Simply magic

But even magic moments must eventually end

Just so the cycle can start all over again

But for us this single night would be our all

Except for a heart full of memories, to recall

We walked in silence to her camp site

We kissed good bye in the early morning light

She walked away, not once turning around

I walked away, my heart dragging on the ground

There were no false promises to keep in touch

No letters or phone calls, nothing of the such

Just one lasting final kiss, a whisper, “Good bye”

And memories of Connie that still brings a tear to my eye

I remember that night like it was yesterday

I hope the memory never fades away

It was magic

Simply magic
