Chapter Two

I was standing in the middle of my room in a pair of nude platform pumps. Did I just seriously say pumps? Oh my God, it's started. Sierra was lounging on my bed, and Kenna was sitting on the edge next to her, pointing out the flaws in my posture.

"You need to bring your shoulders back, that'll straighten your back and make you look taller," she told me in her quiet, sweet voice. "No, not like that, you look like you just had a boob job," she said. Sierra cracked up and my shoulders slumped, unimpressed. "Just a little bit, not so they're behind your neck but so they're level." I tried again. "That's better," she said reassuringly, but I had the feeling she only said that to make me feel better. "Stand with the heel of one foot touching the middle of your other foot with all of your weight on the one at the back, that way you can switch when your feet get sore. One hand on your hip, and you're done!" she said happily, clapping her hands.

"This feels weird," I noted, trying and failing to get comfortable.

"Don't worry you'll get used to it," she said, waving her hand. "Okay, now it's time to walk."

"Oh God," I muttered.

"Don't worry, it just takes a little practice," she assured me.

"Ha! Yeah right," Sierra snorted. Kenna hit her and she sat up. "Well it's the truth!" she defended, rubbing her arm.

"Don't listen to her, she's in a mood," Kenna said.

"Yeah, she's been in one since she was twelve," I said flatly. Kenna laughed and Sierra glared at us both.

"Okay, so the main thing you want to remember is not to put your entire foot down at once otherwise you'll be clomping around like a giraffe," she said.

"I like giraffe's," I pouted.

"And I like monkeys but that doesn't mean I wanna look like one," she pointed out.

"Good metaphor," I told her. She cocked her head to the side and I knew she didn't understand what I'd just said.

"Uh, thanks? Anyway, you have to put your heel down first, and then your toes. Don't bend your knees any more than you normally would or you'll look ridiculous."

"I feel like an idiot," I muttered as I began slowly making my way around my room. It felt like I was doing the space walk on the moon.

"And you look like one too!" Sierra sung loudly and off key. I ignored her, she was probably right.

"Turn and walk back, and again," Kenna instructed me. When I did it a few times she leant back with a smile, satisfied. I kicked off the shoes, letting them hit the wall across from me and bounce a few times.

"You shouldn't do that you know, you'll break them," Sierra said.

"I don't care," I said, my voice menacing.

"You should, you paid eighty bucks for them." Hm. She had a point. I shuddered, that was a scary thought.

"What now?" I asked, hoping that the day would be over, even though it was only morning.

"What's the time?" Kenna asked Sierra, who picked my alarm clock up off of the end table and stared at it.

"It's time!" she sung excitedly.
