An Angel's Heart:

Season 3 Episode 3: My Letting Go

The drive back was long. I never expected it to take so long. It was supposed to be a 2 hour drive back to our place yet it feels like we've been driving for a day. I guess it's just the solemn guilt that filled the car. I still felt guilty about leaving Angel.

"She left you Ty. You did not leave her. She chose to leave without giving you a chance to explain. It's her fault not yours. You didn't do anything wrong." something told me.

"If you let fate be, maybe you can get back with her. Maybe if she says sorry. Maybe if she" I pushed it out of my head and shrugged to myself.

"Are you ok?" Rebecca asked, turning her head to me.

"Yeah I'm fine. Just, I, I'm just tired." I mumbled softly. Tired? What a shitty excuse. Still I wondered about that thought. I wondered if it was right after all. Maybe. Just maybe. I closed my eyes. I just felt dead. Then my phone rang.

"Dad. Slide to Answer" my screen said.

"Go ahead." Rebecca said and smiled at me.

"Oh my god. Darling it's through! Hello? Son are you there?" I could hear my dad's voice streaming through my phone. I fought back tears. I haven't seen them in close to a year. They didn't used to care. For some reason, when I'm at my weakest, they cared. And that mattered to me. Were it not for this, I grew up without a family.

"Dad. It's me." I said through the device.

"Son! Where have you been? Are you ok?" he asked with concern. I could hear that he was glad. More tears fell from my eyes. Rebecca held my hand even while driving. And she smiled at me. We were home.

"Yeah. Dad. I'm fine." I stuttered, teeth chattering from crying.

"Listen son. I know we haven't been very close. But we'll always be here for you, your mother and I. We love you son. I love you." he said. I could hear him sniffling.

"Yeah I love you too dad." I said. Even through we were miles away, I could feel the man's care and love.

"How's about you haul your ass home for dinner this weekend?" he asked. Breaking the awkwardness between us both.

"Yeah sure dad. There's someone I'd like you to meet." I said, keeping the mood up.

"Who's that?" he asked.

"Someone special. Someone I love." I said and Rebecca kissed my cheek.

"Ok then! This Saturday." he said. Laughing happily.

"What have you done? You did it then. You really went and fucked the pooch." the voice said.

"Shut the hell up." I told it.
