Blake

I signed the divorce papers.

Miranda was staring off.

Her phone rang.

She walked out, answering it.

"Miranda!" Her Lawyer called her name.

"Give me a minute. God."

The other person was rambling to Miranda.

You could tell the other person was upset.

"Okay. You need to calm down. Match your breathing to mine."

She was inhaling and exhaling deeply to get the other person to mimic her breathing.

"Now, what the hell happened?"

The other person said it quickly.

Her stoic and grave masked expression dropped.

"Where was he?"

"Kansas."

"Damn it. There are multiple hunters out there."

"How do you know that?"

"Because I go hunting in Kansas when I can."

"You still go hunting?"

"Yeah. Is that surprising?"

"Yeah. Because of how busy you always are."

"Well, I make the time. Just like I make the time to come visit you guys."

"That's surprising."

"Mm. So, did this person give you any number?"

"No. He's using Luke's phone."

"So, you call him. You tell him to call me. On my phone or the Nashville house phone. You know the Nashville house phone number, right?"

"Yeah."

"You tell him to call me. Don't you worry about a thing. I will get him back. If it's the last thing I do."

"I got a question for you."

"Mm?"

"Have you made your mind up yet?"

"I really am getting sick and tired of people asking me that."

"Then give people an answer."

"It's just not the right time."

"Is there ever gonna be a right time in the Music industry?"

"Probably not."

"Miranda!"

She laughed.

"I can see why he's getting annoyed with you. You keep giving him answers like that?"

"Maybe. You want to know a difference between the both of us?"

"What?"

"You listen to Dad. I don't listen to him."

"So, basically mine is based on a 1900s Marriage and yours is based on a 2000s Marriage?"

"Exactly. You do what he wants. I don't."

"Such as not moving to LA?"

"A great example."

"As to why your Marriage is crumbling apart."

"How did you--"

"I'm your mother, Miranda. Your independent ego has been higher than ever. Even before you started doing Country Music."

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Miranda, I know I taught you better than to lie."

"I didn't lie about it."

"Somehow I doubt that."

"Well, you're not the one that has their Marriage in the spotlight all the time. I am sick and tired of it."

"Well, you asked for it. Marrying another County Music star."

"That's a good point."

"Fix it before it's too late."

"It already is. So... Just have the guy call me, alright?"

"Yeah."

"Bye. Love you."

"Love you too."

Miranda hung up.

She walked back in.

Miranda stared at the divorce papers.

She walked out.

"I'll get her to sign these once she finds her brother."

"Don't." I told her Lawyer.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah."

I walked out.

Miranda was holding her head in her hands.

I sat next to her.

"I'm gonna help you find him."

"Really?"

"Really. I know you'd help me find Endy."

I pulled Miranda into my arms.

She was breaking down.

Miranda listens to me cry over Richie still.

"Alright. I've got to get back to the Nashville house. Since he might call on the house phone."

"Come on."

We went back to the Nashville house.
