Can you stand outside yourself

And scan the foebeast's eye?

Can you watch her track your move?

Does something in you cry?

Are you aware that you alone

Perceive this stalking beast,

And that the loathing that you feel

Is fodder for her feast?

She's always in the shadows at

The edge of what you see.

She'll move to trap you in her thrall

Unless you claw to free.

She'll use the weakness you perceive,

To say you're not enough.

Sometimes it's true your chemistry

Makes you believe that stuff.

Sometimes you think that you alone

Can see the "wreck" you are.

You can't believe when others say

That you're their shining star.

It takes ten good for each one bad

And you've had bad so long,

That so much good just overwhelms,

'Cause, Honey, it sounds wrong.

The choice is always yours to make

To listen or reject,

For all the hurdles overcome,

You've earned your self respect.

You think you can, you think you can't,

In both respects you're right,

But if the latter is your post,

Then why maintain the fight?

I know that only you can choose

Which image to retain.

If left to me, t'would happy be,

And that's my true and plain.
