Brooklyn's POV

I grab the last box from the trunk as I look at our new house, i can't believe my dad moved us to California so that I could play for Beverly Hills High School

I shake my head as I just think about everything that's been happening since 8th grade when I came out and decided to bite the bullet and play football

"I can't believe dad moved us just so you could play at a prestigious school" my little sister Victoria says as she stands next to me, looking at the house

"I can't believe it either, honestly don't want too" I say as I look down

"Well your his favorite" Victoria says as she heads in the house with her purse and her bag

I shake my head and head into the house and put the last box in the kitchen where my mom and dad are

"Isn't this place great kids, I feel like this is the perfect place to settle down and for my football star to win a championship" My Dad says confidently

I smile a bit as my mother gives me a smile too, I hate to disappoint them so I have to keep a fake smile no matter how much I hate it here, plus my dad would lose my shit if he knew I didn't wanna be here

"Y'all go check out your rooms, your mother and I are going to speak with the neighbors" My Dad says drags my mother out the house has my little brother and sister head upstairs and claim there rooms

I follow behind and walk into my room that is partially unpacked thanks to the movers, I sigh and sit on the floor as I start building my bed

"Brook this house is amazing, it has a pool and a basement" My little brother Brandon says as he runs into my room

"Yea it is Brandon" I say with fake excitement as he smiles and runs out to check out more of the house

I sigh and finish up building my bed frame, I get up and put the mattress on the bed and make my bed before laying down and sighing

I miss New York, it was so much fun there and I grew up there, I had friends, my teammates, I even had a few girlfriends which my father ran off because in his words

Football is everything and it my true love

I groan and get up and go downstairs and out the door to see my parents talking to a man and his wife, I go to the garage and get my football stuff and go to head inside but my dad calls me back

"Aye Brooklyn come here, I want you to meet our neighbors" he says waving me over

I sigh and jog over to them as they smile at me

"This is my start athlete and wonderful daughter Brooklyn, Brooklyn this is Tammy and Marvin Bragdon" My Dad says putting his hand on my shoulder

"Nice to meet you both" I say as I shake their hands

"Nice to meet you sweetheart, welcome to the neighborhood, your father told me all about you and how you play football" Tammy says as she eyes my dad

"Yea I play football, I play any position they let me as long as I start" I say half jokingly

They laugh and we talk some more before we all head in because it's getting dark. I bring my stuff in with the help of my dad and we set it by the back door

"Honey can you make us some dinner, all the moving got me hungry" My Dad says as he rubs his stomach

My mother nods and and goes straight to the kitchen as my father and I sit in the living room and turn on ESPN

"You know Brooklyn, your going to be known in the town, hell this state" My dad says excitedly as he pushes my shoulder

"I know dad, I won't let you down" I say smiling as I turn to the tv

"Listen Brooklyn......winning is everything and you need to remain focus and practice practice practice, be better than everyone" My Dad tells me for the 100th time in my life

"I know Dad, I won't let you down" I say seriously

"I know you won't, you'll make it to the NFL and you'll get me a nice ole house and take care of us" he says smugly as he looks at the Tv

I nod as I look at him, he's worked half of his life but he expects me to take care of him, really?!

"Dinners done" My mother yells  causing us to get up and head to the table as Victoria and Brandon run down the stairs

We all sit down as my mother brings us the food and sets it on the table, she sits down next to my father and we say grace before digging in

"Brooklyn remember, tryouts are on Monday so pack up your football gear before you shower tonight" My dad says as he eats his food

"Thanks Dad I'll do that after dinner" I say as I continue eating

"So Victoria what do you plan on doing at Beverly" My mother says as she eats

"Probably theatre or cheerleading" she says happily

"No daughter of mine is doing Cheerleading" My father says flabbergasted

"But Dad I want to do sports and you already said I can't do Volleyball" Victoria argues

"No decisions, No cheerleading, no Volleyball" My Dad says dismissively

"Fine, can I play soccer" Victoria says trying to reason with him

"No but you can do theater and band" He says, not in the mood to argue

Victoria's shoulders lower and she looks towards my mother who just continues eating and offers no help, Victoria just eats her food and remains silent

"So Brandon.... what are you going to do at Beverly" my mother says as she eats her greens

"I don't know, I was thinking about dance or glee" Brandon says causing my mother to smile

"Don't you think that's a little dorky" My Dad says

"No, singing is fun and I like doing it" Brandon retorts

"Well then you can do that but if you don't find a girlfriend then you know why" My Dad says half joking causing Brandon to look down at his plate

"What I'm just joking, your a freshman, you don't k ow about girls yet" My Dad says but Brandon just keeps his head down

Dinner is silent after that and we finish eating and wash dishes for my mom afterwards then head to our rooms. I change into my pajamas and lay down, knocking out instantly

Tomorrow is gonna be a fresh start but the same old same old
