I am a Woman

By Kimberly Conrady

In the eyes of the world,

I am a daughter, wife, and mother.

A woman.

As a daughter,

Wearing little dresses and bows in my hair are what describe me.

As a wife,

Washing dishes and cleaning the house are all I can do.

As a mother,

Baring children and helping them grow is what I'm good at.

As a woman,

I am known for staying at home crying about my problems.

I am a woman.

I am a doctor.

My gloves covered with blood that winks in the light of the ones I save.

I am a police officer.

My life at risk for the sake of saving yours.

I am a construction worker.

Scaling the tall building, looking down at the people as small as ants.

I am a woman.

A woman who cares for her family.

A woman who works hard at her job.

I am a woman.

Loving, caring, and strong.
