Maria Aila's POV

Nanigas ako sa aking kinatatayuan nang makita siya. 

Tugdug. Tugdug. Tugdug. Potek, ano yun? Walang pusong titibok dito! Past is past.

I tried to take a deep breath to keep myself calm.

Okay lang 'yan. Wala lang 'to.

But as I try to look at him, I couldn't help but check him out. He's wearing a gray tuxedo which fits his well-toned body perfectly, black shoes, and a black watch which screams luxury. 

Nang mapunta ang tingin ko sa kanyang mukha, pansin ko na mas lalong naging mature ang mukha niya in a way na mas nadepina ang bawat sulok nito. He was also wearing eye glasses which made him look a hundred times hotter. 

Potek, Aila. Get a grip!

"Ate!" Natigil ako sa ginagawa nang tawagin ako ng nakababata kong kapatid. I shook my head and felt embarrassed at what I just did. I can feel my cheeks burning in embarrassment.  God, I just stared at him openly at a broad daylight! 

Tumikhim ako. Kiel shook his head, his facial expression showed disappointment. 

"A-ano--" I cleared my throat as soon as I heard myself stutter. Sinubukan kong tumayo nang tuwid. As soon as I composed myself, I meet his eyes...

"Ano pong sadya nila?" In a tone as if it is my first time meeting him. As if I do not know him before.

He just stared at me blankly after I said that. Matinding katahimikan ang nangibabaw sa paligid bago niya naisipang magsalita.

I gulped. Ano ba kase sadya nito?

In a very formal tone, he spoke... "I don't wanna waste my time. I have important things to do, mind if I talk to you privately? Tomorrow. 10AM. At the café you are working..."

He said that like a command. Na parang wala akong ibang dapat na sagot, oo lang dapat. Parang wala akong choice.

Not letting my fast heartbeat takeover my sanity, I raised my eyebrows as if demanding for an explanation of what he just said.

Tumikhim ako bago nagsalita.

"Ano bang pag-uusapan natin? Importante ba talaga?" Matapang na sabi ko ngunit hindi makatingin sa kanya. "Kase ako, I am also working and well, busy din..." I trailed off.

Nakapamulsa na ngayon si Kiel habang nakikinig sa akin. His hooded eyes are focused and he's not taking it away from me. Though, I cannot clearly see the emotions he's showing.

I gulped with the way he looks at me.

"It's for Gale." He simply said.

Doon na ako napatitig kay Kiel. "For Gale? What is it?"

I am hoping that Gale will be chosen as one of their beneficiaries. Matagal ko nang inaasam na mapili siya. I've been sending too many letters to any charities with doctors specializing on Gale's condition, even to Kiel. But hindi pa rin talaga napipili si Gale. I am praying sana ito na yun.

Kiel checked his watch as if in a hurry. Lagi nalang nagmamadali itong doktor na 'to. Sabagay, hindi naman kase ata basta-basta sila makakaalis lalo na't on duty. Baka masyadong busy.

He stepped outside. "We'll just talk it out tomorrow. I'll wait." He looked at Gale and smiled at her. He looked back at me without any emotions bago naglakad paalis.

Ang pogi niya. Este-- ang suplado! Parang di minsang nabaliw sa akin ah.

I laughed at the idea. Aila, past is past. Wag ka nang mangarap, may fiancée na yung tao. Jusko.
